The South Dakota Department of Public Safety has pulled the "Don't Jerk and Drive" ads, which played on the double-meaning of the word "jerk," a euphemism for masturbation. Highway Safety Director Lee Axdahl said the double meaning was intentional, to grab people's attention. SD Public Safety Director Trevor Jones said in a statement that he stopped the campaign because "I don't want this innuendo to distract from our goal to save lives." Before the cancellation, state Rep. Mike Verchio was planning to call Axdahl before the Transportation Committee to explain what Verchio calls "a terrible error in judgment." Seems like a good catch phrase to me to be honest. When I saw the title I honestly thought about the other thing first like Im sure most people did. But by doing so it caused me to click on this thread and then realize what they were talking about. It gained my attention. Good way to get people to read it and take notice. I would have kept the slogan.
Yet another case of Americans being terribly offended by something related to something as common as sex for some inexplicable reason. People are strange.
