I believe joining a State only militia is a patriotic option if I have no Faith in the Cause of our federal leadership, regarding foreign entanglements.
That does not give you an unlimited freedom to determine your own fate or absolve you of routine obligations to your country and fellow countrymen
Ya, you don't know what you're talking about. You're probably some fobbit that never left the wire. As a Infantryman, your job is to close in with an enemy and kill him. Don't run your mouth, you're embarrassing yourself.
Many of us in the sixties felt the same way, but we were not cowards like Bill Clinton who on purpose arranged his 'draft dodging."
Sorry. Wasn't referring to you...at all. In this thread, you seem to be the antithesis of a fascist. I was referring to those people who think that man-made organizations have more of a claim over their lives than they do themselves. People who have a religious-type zeal for government authority. You know, simpletons.
If people knew war is only one poor bastard going and killing another poor bastard that never did anything to him, maybe they'd think differently about it, but I doubt it.
Up to but not beyond the government. Skip the draft, I hope your adult self likes jail. - - - Updated - - - You have no cause in anything Daniel. Very clear after years of reading your crap.
As a 27 year veteran with 2 bronze stars and 2 meritorious service medals, air medal, 6 campaign stars and 3 separate combat tours, one as a Plt Sgt of an Infantry Platoon, I know people like you love the kill, kill, kill crap as a wannabe killer. You are a disservice to any branch in which you were part. I believe you are a coward crowing like a rooster.
Why is that? Forget the somewhat ridiculous sports analogies, tell us specifically why the US is indefensible from within its borders, that really makes little sense to me. It might be the case if you were talking about a small country but the bigger countries get the more easy it is to defend them from invasion, as the attacker must "conquer the map", and the USA is the 4th largest country in the world. Tell us how you would conquer America, if it's so easy.
I believe joining a State only militia instead of being drafted to a foreign entanglement, is a Constitutionally protected right. - - - Updated - - - Nothing but fallacy, how Patriotic is that to the discovery of sublime Truth (value) through argumentation.
You're goal post shifting because I've said nothing about conquering America. But the United States can be severely damaged with tens of thousands killed and billions in infrastructure damaged all with 50 year old technology and some decent planning. - - - Updated - - - Where does it say that in the Constitution?
See, here is were you embarrass yourself on two different levels. First of all I know guys like you. Somehow you feel the need to throw out your DD 214, so you can try to trump somebody in a internet argument. Do you know how truly pathetic that is? If you don't, here's a hint, it's pathetic. Here's were you really embarrass yourself. You take my statement out of context, then start popping of at the mouth, as if you know anything about me. I was correct when I said the job of a infantryman is to close in with the enemy, by means of fire and manuver, and kill that enemy. Where am I wrong on the job description of a infantryman? Oh wait, I'm not. Next, my point was to describe how base my job was. I never once said war was awesome, and killing was great. I've never heaped honor on murdering another human. I detest war, and state sponcered violence. I've based this point of view on my experience of doing two deployments to Iraq. So, now you have some trivial choices to make. You can man up, and apologize for taking my post out of context, and then slandering me. You can tuck tail and try to save face, and never respond again. Or, you can double down on dumb. Either way, I can care less what you think you know about me.
