If you'd spent just the littlest amount of time looking instead of being trying to be right, you wouldn't have been so wrong. http://www.politicalforum.com/3766197-post194.html http://www.politicalforum.com/3755017-post1.html
Ive posted stats on rape and murer statistics before, much higher in the US than just about anywhere else. Look in your own backyard
None of those links show any proof she was threatened with murder. Massive fail, you didnt read the links themselves only the headlines. Lol.
Dude, you're a frickin joke. Don't pretend for a second you're not trolling. Pay attention, son: "As part of "Inspire," a 67-page English-language Al Qaeda magazine, Yemeni-American cleric Anwar al-Awlaki -- who has been linked to the botched Times Square bombing and cited as inspiration for the Fort Hood massacre and the plot of two New Jersey men to kill U.S. soldiers -- targeted the Seattle cartoonist for "assassination," along with others who have participated in her campaign. [...] He warned that "assassinations, bombings and acts of arson" are all legitimate forms of revenge against the creators of blasphemous depictions of Muhammad." "Yemeni-American cleric Anwar al-Awlaki - the radical who has also been cited as inspiring the Fort Hood, Tex., massacre and the plot by two New Jersey men to kill U.S. soldiers - singled out artist Molly Norris as a "prime target," saying her "proper abode is hellfire." FBI officials have notified Norris and warned her they consider it a 'very serious threat.'" "The gifted artist is alive and well, thankfully. But on the insistence of top security specialists at the FBI, she is, as they put it, "going ghost": moving, changing her name, and essentially wiping away her identity. She will no longer be publishing cartoons in our paper or in City Arts magazine, where she has been a regular contributor. She is, in effect, being put into a witness-protection program—except, as she notes, without the government picking up the tab. It's all because of the appalling fatwa issued against her this summer, following her infamous "Everybody Draw Mohammed Day" cartoon." Which links to: "The Yemeni-American cleric Anwar al-Awlaki - the radical who's also been cited as inspiring the Fort Hood, Tex., massacre and the plot by two New Jersey men to kill U.S. soldiers - singled out artist Molly Norris as a "prime target," saying her "proper abode is Hellfire." Awlaki, a 39-year-old born in New Mexico and pictured up top, made the comments in the June issue of "Inspire," an English-language magazine meant to help radicalize American Muslim youth. (One counter-terrorism official described it as "Al Qaeda's 'Tiger Beat.'") [...] "We understand the absolute seriousness of a threat from an Al Qaeda inspired magazine and are attempting to do everything in our power to assist the individuals on that list to effectively protect themselves and change their behavior to make themselves less of a target," David Gomez, the FBI's assistant special agent in charge of counter-terrorism in Seattle, told the News."
There is a problem, the Koran does that too. I have posted this before, on more than one message board: "005.068 YUSUFALI: Say: "O People of the Book! ye have no ground to stand upon unless ye stand fast by the Law, the Gospel, and all the revelation that has come to you from your Lord." It is the revelation that cometh to thee from thy Lord, that increaseth in most of them their obstinate rebellion and blasphemy. But sorrow thou not over (these) people without Faith. PICKTHAL: Say O People of the Scripture! Ye have naught (of guidance) till ye observe the Torah and the Gospel and that which was revealed unto you from your Lord. That which is revealed unto thee (Muhammad) from thy Lord is certain to increase the contumacy and disbelief of many of them. But grieve not for the disbelieving folk. SHAKIR: Say: O followers of the Book! you follow no good till you keep up the Taurat and the Injeel and that which is revealed to you from your Lord; and surely that which has been revealed to you from your Lord shall make many of them increase in inordinacy and unbelief; grieve not therefore for the unbelieving people." With that though I can quote many verses that do exactly what you just said was "stupid and provocative.. and deliberate. It endangers innocent people." "I think it is irresponsible.. like yelling fire in a crowded theater.." "Finding whatever is sacred to a particular religious group and desecrating it." Care to show us the tolerance of idols, idol worshipers, and polytheists in Islam? PS. Do not leave out the Hindus and Buddists...the Koran does not allow to live.
We don't stone our rape victims to death in the public square. And he says I'm the one with the comprehension problem.
Molly Norris, "Draw Mohammed Day" Cartoonist, Placed On Execution Hitlist By Islamic Cleric Anwar al-Awlaki.
Molly Norris, "Draw Mohammed Day" Cartoonist, Placed On Execution Hitlist By Islamic Cleric Anwar al-Awlaki. Oh, "LOL."
Some of these pictures missed the poing of the day. Drawing an image isnt offensive, but drawing an offensive image is offensive. The point of the day is to highlight that the first kind of image should not be met with even the slightest response. At least, thats how I understand it.
Did Christians threaten to kill Andres Serrano for "(*)(*)(*)(*) Christ?" Did he have to go into hiding? (*)(*)(*)(*) Christ Destroyed by French Catholics. No. They took their anger out on an inanimate object--still an improper response in my view, but far better than threatening murder. And what about poor Salman Rushdie? How long has the price been on his head from the brainless Islamic thugs who were offended by his book?
Not to mention the fact that I'm sure ian's stats are of reported rapes and murders. Women in areas that engage in "honor killings" aren't exactly going to be prone to report rape. There's also the fact that these are probably crime statistics and I doubt they count the legal executions of people for blasphemy, homosexuality, and apostasy as murder.
We in the US try to blame the victim so we can get the rapist off. The woman was "asking for it." Just another sign of our patriarchal heritage. A disgrace, but it's real.
The fact is there are limits and there should be limits. We can argue about what those limits should be precisely, but it would be rather foolish to argue that there never should be any limits.
its not bollocks. of course you have the right to draw whatever you want, but if this gets people killed, then your partially to blame for deliberately taking part in it, knowing full well it could result in violence. i dont think its okay for them to threaten us, i never said that. but to deliberately insult over a billion people for no good reason, knowing that someone will probably get killed for it, is retarded. just because you have the right to do something doesnt mean that its responsible or correct to do it. i dont know what the answer is, but i know that insulting them, and rubbing their faces in it, is going to do nothing to solve the tension, its going to make it worse.
