Drive-By Media, Drive-By Posters

Rush has been calling the MSM drive-by media for years. It makes perfect sense. They run hit piece stories with no serious, objective journalism. Their entire purpose is to sway opinion towards whatever progressive aims are being sought by the Democratic Party. And it rubs off on their viewers and readers. Just look at this forum, and how leftists post the drive-by crap, and then disappear, so as not to be forced to stick around and defend their nonsense with logic and reason.

Boycott both. Why bother replying to drive-by posters? They're already gone, off looking for the next Democratic Underground talking points for the day. I don't know why the drive-by posters are tolerated. All they do is take up bandwidth with cut and paste BS, and never engage in a discussion. Posting a one-liner to meet thread creation criteria, and then refusing to discuss is cowardly. They never stick around to defend their tripe. But then they've learned from the best - CNN, NY Times, et al. I'm ignoring them. If they don't have the balls to debate, I'm not reading their trash. No different than refusing to watch CNN or read the NY Times. Really, what's the point?

 

Is this a drive by thread? Does it meet the forum standards for thread creation? Sometimes I get confused when they ding me for not following a rule and I think I need stifle myself.

In all fairness you must admit every MSM news operation has a super secret How do we impeach Trump collective in their basement. You won't be seeing any email leaks from them because they're smart enough now to quit using AOL and Yahoo mail to conduct their subterfuge.

Same problem here. I still don't know what I did wrong, or maybe i should say I don't know how I could have prevented my thread from getting "dinged". I have not tried to start another thread since then and I don't think that I will.

 

I know what you mean the rules mean nothing if they don't explain it to me like I'm a child. I keep posting anyway but if I suddenly go away you know why.

 

What is a drive-by poster? Is that like a special shotgun or M-79 that shoots out a sticky posters against walls and building (from the windows of passing cars) ... and sticks there?

 

The moderator explained it to me but I still didn't "get it". It's like I understood the rule but i can't for the life of me see how the subject I chose could have been presented in any other way. It was forced-shifted over to 'Humour & Satire' but I wasn't making any joke about the subject. I was dead serious. It does not belong in 'Humour & Satire'.

I'm just (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)ing. I'm frustrated by the media, and its effect on people unwilling or unable to discern between objective information designed to inform and carefully crafted propaganda based on an agenda.

 

The powers that control conversation on this message board will give these drive-by posters a free ride. Their posts are clearly by definition flamebaiting, but no one will say or do anything about it. But they will had down an infraction to even the most minor of comments. As long as the powers that be control the conversation, we have to tread lightly. They liberals on the other hand get a free ride to be as insulting, or inflammatory, as they want.

 

I'm not telling the moderators what to do. The drive-by media is dishonest, and people don't have the courtesy to discuss their drive-by material. They don't intend to debate. It's like their political operators instead of normal people seeking lively conversation about issues.

I personally cannot take these conservative rants about the MSM for face value if we are not going to include Fox News, since FNC is able MSM as CNN. Trying to disassociate the two is really a circle jerk effort. Trust me, none o my stuff is cut and paste. There was this, using your term, drive-by poster who was of the conservative bent, Hoosier8, who simply tried flame-baiting posters. Luckily, he's banned now.

I wouldn't try to argue FNC is objective. They're no different than CNN.

FOX News is only objective in their hard news coverage. However, the bulk of segments on FOX are commentary - O'Reilly, Hannity, Tucker Carlson, et. al. That's what gets the left's panties in a big wad!

People must understand one important thing about FOX: they exist because of CNN/MSNBC/ABC/CBS/NBC.

It's been clear for a few decades now that the "mainstream" media outlets strayed from their previously designated role of "watchdog of those in power" and turned to overtly left-leaning stances that fail to objectively cover either Democratic or Republican administrations.

In the first week of the Trump administration, there has been more MSM coverage of his controversy than pretty much the entirety of Obama's eight years. I admit that statement is a bit of hyperbole on my part, but the underlying point is undoubtedly true to an objective onlooker. Obama was simply given a pass by the MSM.

I vary my sources as a matter of personal responsibility. If one allows his views to suffer from self-inflicted bias, he will reap what he sows. As I have seen over the many years I have been actively following politics, the MSM has always - and I do mean ALWAYS - scrutinizes Republican administrations much more harshly than the Democrats.

FOX does what they do as a sort of "balancing act", if you will. Yes - they do have a bias. However, I believe that until the "mainstream" media outlets right themselves and return to their traditional and rightful role as watchdog of ALL of those in power, FOX will continue to confound them as well as the leftist citizenry with their understandable - and necessary - counter-attack.
