How did stupid Biden get elected? Ditto Ronnie Reagan and G W Bush? It might be a leftover from the cold war: In a nuclear war, a rational president would realize that 'pushing the button' would only make things worse for us and everyone else and therefore would not do it. So to have a frighting nuclear deterrent, we needed a half-senile president with a six-shooter, Ronnie Raygun, and since then we've just made the same mistake over and over again.
Another reason, apart from pushing the button, which pigeons can learn to do more consistently than humans, is jealousy. People don't want to give the office of president to someone richer and smarter than they are. So they elected G W B who was richer but pretended to be stupider than he was. He wasn't all that intelligent, but he wasn't as stupid as he pretended to be. After all, would you vote for someone you couldn't look down on?
Another reason is lobbyists want a president they can push around. Ronnie Reagan wasn't interested in most things, and G. W. Bush in his first term was referred to as: 'frat boy' emphasizing his inexperience, and they got him to start two wars. He was not as easy to push around in his second term. The public tends to think of a president who starts wars as a strong one, but as is evident right now, with a weak president the arms lobby has more power, and weapons get sent to places where they really should not be.
Let's assume you are right. America has had "dumbass presidents". If you could pick any world leader from the 190+ other countries to replace Biden who would you pick. I am talking about existing world leaders that have a record of governance. If America chooses so poorly which country does better? Is it Canada with ultra progressive Trudeau? Is it the UK with disgraced leader Johnson? Is it the elitist Macron? Do you prefer dictators like Putin or Xi? Who would you pick? Which world leader do you admire the most?
No he wasn't. He didn't flood the border, he didn't run up totally unnecessary debt, and he didn't load up Ukraine with weapons, and Joe's done all that in just his first 18 months.
It's like you have a fire department team and one of the members keeps spraying gasoline on the fires. You just want him gone and not replaced with another of the same.
So you are saying there is not a single world leader you admire enough that you would be willing to replace Biden with. Maybe if those other countries had better leaders the world would be a much better place. Obviously Biden must be better than Putin, in your opinion, if you are not willing to swap Biden for Putin straight up. Maybe if we replaced Putin the world would be a much better place.
Trump was on pace to out-spend Obama, don't kid yourself. Hell, Trump spent over $120 million just in golf trips in 4 years. People vote for the best actor. None of us actually know them or have even met them. We're voting for whoever has the best persona on TV. That persona is increasingly scripted by psychologists and statisticians in bigger and more elaborate think tanks that design every word and movement to best appeal to the highest percentage of the audience. They might as well be deep fakes. And very soon they could literally be deep fakes...
