In Florida we've been pretty much doing the same thing since June 1st.

I hope we've already had our "this time"

    Time will tell

Policies didn't cause the temporary economic slowdown. The pandemic did.

Because of the pandemic. But it was the Governors, Mayors and states who tailored their decisions according to on the ground realities. Like everything else he has accomplished as President, Trump has done a good job addressing and managing the pandemic from Washington. Pretty much everyone at every level has, according to the best of their abilities. I think that any President would have done pretty much the same thing with similar results.

The economic contraction is not just about the mandatory shutdowns. Sweden didn't shut down and they are economically doing worse than their neighbors, while also having more deaths. And, yes, business is picking up . . . but it is still dismal at the moment.

I didn't suggest working to infect people. I just wanted the fight against the virus to happen with a healthy economy. If you don't think attacking a "crisis" by creating a new, worse crisis is stupid, then you have no grasp of logic.

I'll chalk this post up to desperation.

If governrments had understood the stupidity of fighting a crisis with another crisis we wouldn't have this situation.
