iT IS VERY CURIOUS THAT THIS STORY WAS NOT ON THE FRONT PAGES OF THE NEWSPAPERS.

SO, THE "ARAB SPRING" BEGINS TO SHOW IT'S TRUE COLORS,

"In the latest escalation of the ongoing diplomatic crisis between still-getting-on-its-feet Egypt and neighboring Israel, protesters in Cairo attacked the Israeli embassy there, leaving three dead and over a thousand wounded. Israel immediately brought home its ambassador and most of the embassy staff, while Egypt's Prime Minister Essam Sharaf offered his resignation to the country's interim ruling military council. (Sharaf's offer was rejected.) This anti-Israel — and, going by Reuters interviews with protesters in Cairo, anti-U.S. — groundswell may be an alarming caution to those hoping the Arab Spring would enact Western-oriented democratic governments in the region. Don't forget, we were mighty chummy with Hosni Mubarak and several of the other authoritarian leaders opposed by the wave of populist uprisings. And while the Libyans may feel friendly toward us for our and NATO's help in bombing Muammar Qaddafi to a pulp, our assistance hasn't been so forthcoming in other conflicts in the area"

The devil we all knew...it just wasn't politically correct to speak of him. Everyone with half a brain knew that the arab world is about as ready for democracy as a down syndrome person is ready to drive a truck.

Obama encouraged and promoted the destabilization of Egypt (AND promoted the Muslim Brotherhood, too) and now we begin to see what happens when you replace something with nothing. http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politic...pt-and-tunisia-chastises-bahrain-pushes-1967/

Radical Islam has risen up to fill the power vacuum left when Mubarak was forced out. Obama has gifted the jihadists and that's just one of the destructive legacies he will leave behind when, finally, he leaves Washington DC.
He is Jimmy Carter on steroids.

U.S. President Barack Obama gave a nice speech in Egypt in June 2009. He gave a forceful speech about Egypt when he helped to bring down Hosni Mubarak in February 2011. But in the past six months Obama has done little to restore and to stabilize Egypt. That is because he was so busy with West Bank settlements and 1967 borders that he did not have the time to put forward a genuine Marshall Plan that could save the land of the Nile.

On Obama's watch, Egypt is increasingly sinking into chaos while the Egyptian-Israeli peace is rolling into the abyss. Unless he wakes up soon, Egypt will be to Barack Obama what Iraq was to his predecessor, President George W. Bush. Obama will bury the peace that President Jimmy Carter brought.

    A Marshall Plan? LOLOLOL...

Obama didn't orchestrate the Arab Spring.

And the Marshall Plan was operated on Ghawar Oil..

Such overreaching, goofy and meritless conspiracy theories are a laugh riot.

you are just repeating right wing talking points BS;how the hell is Obama responsible for a 100% grass-root movement sick and tired of tyranny and dictatorship? What does this have to do with Carter? If you want to come here and argue you must bring more than Faux Noise talking points.
How is Israel authorized to kill Egyptian police?

Obama gave a forceful speech that brought down Mubarak? WTF are you talking about? :-D:-D
"On Obama's watch, Egypt is increasingly sinking into chaos...": What do you expect Obama to do in Egypt? aren't *********s and Faux Noise b1tching about Nato air strikes in Libya? Now you want Obama to do more in Egypt?
Oh by the way, here are some other politicians who supported 1967 borders:
    • G W Bush
    • Bill Clinton
    • Ehud Olmert (Netanyahu's predecessor).
By the way, thanks for Haaretz bullsht "opinion piece"; they are less credible than Faux Noise.
Arab world is tired of dictators and crooks, and they do not care if they are supported by Israel and US (Mubarak) or not (Gaddafi).
"On Obama's watch"! LMAO! So Obama is "watching" and controlling everything?
*********s logic is hysterical: "Obama's watch", "Obama gave a speech"...You are not even good at repeating Faux talking points. Need to watch more often.

That's exactly what the article is about (written by the way by an Israeli far left of center senior Haaretz columnist). Obama has done nothing to help stabilize Egypt. Egypt now has twice the unemployment and poverty it had before the Arab spring, its population is 10 times as radicalized and islamized and it has turned into a mob-rules anarchical Banana Republic (no offense meant to real Banana republics).

Congratulations on this unforuntately quite predictable and expected result of the Arab Spring.

So we should have continued to fund and arm a brutal dictator?

That's what the Founders wanted for America? For us to aid tyranny?

Because the current military junta, muslim brotherhood...or just mob rule and anarchy are such worthwhile alternatives.

We shouldn't be supporting them either. No US funds or weapons should go to anyone except free democratic states.

Talk about visions of a nanny state!

If you can read at all you already know how Obama is responsible for encouraging and giving a green light to to the forces that are already taking over a previously stable and responsible nation. He is responsible for lending his support to change (without anyway whatsoever to guarantee that change will be productive) and when Obama lends credence to the Muslim Brotherhood he might as well hang a sign around his neck reading I support Jihad.
    Don't be so ignorant.

Israel is not authorized to kill Egyptian police and if Egypt had done a better job of keeping it's soil free of being a staging place for terrorist attacks on Israel by Palestinian gangs, this incident would never have happened.
But now that it has, there are no forces to check the Jihadists within Egypt who inflame the crazies. Obama bears responsibility for that.

I don't pretend to know everything about the incident and Israel has already expressed regret over the incident. But Palestinians militants trying to enter Israel were in the mix so once again, the Palestinians throw the first punch, or provoke and Israel gets stung responding. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/aug/20/israel-egypt-gaza-mubarak
