"Asked by anchor Jake Tapper to respond to Trump’s rhetoric, Cheney said Warren deserved the ridicule.

“Look, Elizabeth Warren has made herself a laughingstock. I don’t think anybody should be surprised that that’s been the reaction to her,” Cheney said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

The April 1986 bar card, initially reported by The Washington Post, is the first known instance of Warren claiming Native American ancestry in an official document or in her own handwriting. Warren was a professor at the University of Texas School of Law when she filled it out.

“One wonders whether or not that’s grounds for disbarment, if you misrepresent yourself on your application to the bar. I’d say it probably is grounds for disbarment,” Cheney said.

Under the Texas Rules of Professional Conduct, applicants are obligated to correct any material false statements they make to the State Bar during their application process — and even if they are admitted to the bar, past misstatements that surface can still be grounds for disbarment or suspension from the practice of law. (State bars, which regulate attorney conduct and enforce discipline, are distinct from more informal — and more numerous — bar associations.)"

She probably should be disbarred but not because of politics. She should have a fair chance of hanging herself which I have no doubt she will do on her own.

I'd like to see an elitist democrat do it. They will start eating each other sooner or later. Might as well be sooner.

    Lets be clear...

This little index card was not an application to the bar.

    Yeah? And, so what?

When is the last time that Warren practiced law in Texas?

    So she gets disbarred?

    So what?

    Big Whoop.

Even if she is disbarred in every state in the union it isn't going affect her status as a MA U.S. Senator.

Just another No1Curr NON-Issue courtesy of RW Chicken Littles.

I really don't think what race you put down is really a big deal. What is a big deal is if you claim to have education or experience you don't actually have, or you actually cheated on your exam. Race shouldn't be a factor in employment and therefore it shouldn't matter what race you put down.

Let's be real clear. It is an official registration document issued by the state of Texas. It was a registration card. Warren lied plain and simple.

State licensed professionals don't normally become unlicensed or in her case disbarred for an infraction but she may be subject to temporary suspension of her license to practice in TX, a fine or other appropriate disciplinary action.

As I mentioned. I would have preferred seeing another democrat rat her out.

Makes since that it is the Texas GOP Chairwoman trying to scratch up charges against Warren and not the Texas Bar.

Each state board of professional registration is bound by state law to act on complaints. She lied about her race. In many professions, a persons race is of importance for matters of grants, affirmative action and other privileges that may or may not be afforded to non-minorities. States also can discipline persons who they seem not to be of good character. Lying on an registration form is not a trait of a person of good character.

She may well be disciplined. It gets published as a matter of record. Clients and other professionals are notified of the board's/ bar association action.

Maybe not most but some perhaps even many certainly do take these type factors into consideration. Normally, prior disciplinary action would show up in any vetting for purposes of hiring or retaining a professional.

In Warren's case, she is being vetted for the most powerful position in the world. She will be completely scrutinized not only by every government agency but also by the press, US public and even our international allies.

I think affirmative action is racism and its ridiculous, so I don't mind if someone lies on one of those ridiculous questions. Race is one of those things that is hard to define which is why people are usually asked to self-identify their race and there is no racial tests. DNA tests aren't very good at identifying Native American ancestry, but she does claim there is family lore about her ancestry, and that she did believe she was Native American. I think it would be a bit extreme to disbar someone over something like this if they had been otherwise honest and competent. My Aunt lied about her race to get into a good college, because she had messed up her life, and many of her minority friends were getting great college opportunities she wasn't getting simply because of their race. She is an amazing person and regrets some of her past decisions when she was younger.

It makes a difference if you are applying for many government or government funded positions and also on any government or military forms.

When there is an investigation, a person pays the consequences. In her case, it could mean the difference between a high level security clearance, among several other obvious consequences.

So you don't mind when democrats pass racist laws, but also don't mind if they don't abide by them?

Cheney is from Wyoming. Only Craig Johnson's Walt Longmire is worthy to speak for Wyoming.

I don't think your race should be a factor in any hiring. You should be hired for your abilities and qualities, not your race, sexual orientation, or sex. So I don't see misidentifying your race on affirmative action forms as grounds of any consequences whatsoever. Its insane that you need the right race to get government funding, absolutely insane.

If there is an investigation, it has to prove that she isn't Native American, and that she deliberately lied about her ancestry. That is just really hard to prove unless she actually confesses to both of these things.

I think its a waste of time to spend a lot of money investigating people's racial identification on their forms and money would be better spend investigating actual financial fraud or claiming education and experience you don't have.

I am very much opposed to affirmative action laws and democrats supporting them is definitely a negative. But they are right on climate change and our automation and inequality problem and healthcare.

Democrats are who passed those laws.

But you also support them not following those laws?

I don't support anyone following those laws. I don't think these laws or what race Warren claimed to be as are the most important issues to care about. Funny thing is I see dozens of threads about this tabloid nonsense and nothing about what she is proposing. She is really smart and has some interesting ideas, and I think we need to debate them.

If a lawyer isn't a liar then how can he/she be a lawyer?
