    The University of Virginia’s Emma Weyant was praised as the “real winner” after she came in second to biologically male transgender swimmer Lia Thomas in the NCAA Women’s Swimming Championship 500 yard freestyle on Thursday.

    “Round of applause for Emma Weyant, the UVA swimmer who placed second in the 500y freestyle tonight, behind Lia Thomas,” Angela Morabito posted. “Second is the new first.”

    This is a great current news story. Great news indeed. We need to simply ignore the men who have delusions as to what they are and recognize the real women who finish 2nd as the true winner. The true winner in this case won an Olympic womens swimming medal last year while the man actually was competing as a man last year.

    It’s sad that when girls and adult women compete at their very best and set a personal best of all time that they have no chance of winning because some biological man steals it away from them.

    Why do you turn every issue into a "it's the fault of the left" issue?
    Swimming and qualifications and medals have nothing to do with political ideology.
    What the real shame is, is that one of the swimmers who would have qualified for a place in the next round of competition, now won't. She has been bumped down the list.
    IMO this has to stop.

    I forgot to mention.
    Who qualifies for doing what sport is up to that sports governing body.
    NOT the elected govt at any level.
    The issue becomes a problem when the definition of a male or female is blurred. IMO the federal govt has to come to a conclusion and legislate to make sure such sports councils don't break laws around discrimination.
    AFAIK no such laws definitively exist, other than some stuff about testosterone measurements.
    This has nothing to do with who is a woman and who is a man because not only does this differ naturally within each gender but it can be manipulated.
    IMO there has to be another definition.

    Read my post properly.
    My objection to you is that you insist on every particle of life being a political left right issue.
    It isn't. A lot happens outside of and regardless of such a division defined largely by you.
    Sports is one of them.
    Their policies are determined by their own councils, not by congressional decision.
    To blame "THE LEFT" or "THE RIGHT" doesn't come close to where the problems lay.

    They don't operate according to congressional dictate.

    This thread is about who qualifies for sporting events.
    There is another one for defining and discussing gender issues and if you read it you will find me clearly saying that a man cannot become a woman.

    What is it about those who dress to the right who have trouble understanding an argument?
