One creature helping another for no reason other than empathy.

Humans do not, and never did have the market cornered on empathy or morals. Animals have morals, animals can express empathy for other creatures.

Unlike the religions of the world that want to try and trick you into believing that humans are not animals, I know better. Humans are animals. Stories such as this tell me so. Why cant the religious folk hear the same?

Who are the owners of Lily and Madisson? Why do you think they are not Christians? Would a Darwinist not had killed Lilly so she never was able to meet Madison? Is this romance not only practically thinkable in a christian world?

While the owners of dogs may very well be Christians(or Hindu or Muslim or Jewish or Zoroastrian or Buddhists, etc), we can probably agree that the dogs are not followers of any belief system.

Such a statement sounds empty in my ears. There are very big differences between members of different religions and their pets. As far as I know Zoroastrians are not existing any longer - Buddhists have problems with dogs because dogs are carnivorans and Muslims and dogs is also not a story full of light. Chinese are even eating dogs. The story of friendship between dogs and human beings is not an universal story of friendship.

It's by the way in this way that philosophers and scientists degraded animals to kinds of little machines without soul - and not Christians. I could explain every Christian that god wil ask his dog in the end of times about his good and bad deeds - so he shoud take care about the answer the dog gives to god. No Christian would have only a little a problem to imagine god could ask a dog something or a dog would speak doglike with god. Where's the problem except your own antichristian attitudes? Wonderful dogs - maybe you are right and some human beings are animals compared with this noble creatures of the creation of the Lord.

Love the story, and while I always say that animals are the better humans, you have a bit of a contradiction there.
If "humans are animals", and "animals have morals", why "Humans .... never did have the market cornered on empathy or morals"? ;)

Btw, Christians, esp those who are believers and esp followers, along with other human animals, are capable of great compassion, but sadly, those who live for 'me, myself and I' do outshine those who do.
And then there is the cat playing with the mouse....:sun:

Surely, he meant that humans are not the only ones with morals, some of the rest of the animal kingdom does too?
Aye, that happens in most or all belief systems.

At least Christianity has a majority, so people know that there are lots of Christians that don't make a fuss. Many compassionate people of other persuasions are assumed to be Christian because they don't stand out or announce their religion/sim.

I don't think so Scooter! If that was the case the one dog would have guided the Dane to the freeway to play ball.

Here are other examples of Empathy shown by animals for no personal gain:

Animals can tell right from wrong

None of which have anything to do with any kind of religion whatsoever.

perhaps you never heard of islam

are you suggesting since the egyptian created the abrahamic sect and some of the oldest renditions of dog-human relations, that it is solely a egyptian foundation?
does that mean, we need to baptize a dog like the innocent child

no one needs to ask you, we see your posts

dogs at least share the unconditional love that many christians do not.

ie.... a dog will love the people that dont rant the creed. A christian dont!

Human empathy usually comes with strings. It is usually something small kids have tons of, but needs to be de-learned.

What do you mean "in a way"? Responsibility to each other also has to be de-learned in our society.

Dogs are pack animals. It makes sense for them to help out members of their pack. Dogs view humans as part of their pack.

However, what does that anecdote have to do with religion?

The natural way to clean a small wound. Normally good - sometimes probably dangerous.
