My business is a essential business.
I am in the laundry business, coin and commercial. The Virus is not in my county and the surrounding counties.
I am proactive, especially in the coin/public section. My biggest responsibility is my employees. For the counter I fenced of a section, were only one customer at a time can enter.
Created a no customer work space.
Used the Colorado Health Department advice on hygiene and schooled my employees.
Established a employees only hand wash station, with soap and brushes.
If my employees have to deal with the public they have to wear a face shield and a mask.

Posted social spacing rules all over the public section.

Posted rules if somebody has cold type syndromes, which my employees can enforce if needed, 911 last resort.

Posted what efforts we do to keep the public section sanitized as good as possible, which is a great effort

How do you deal with it if you are a essential business.

For me my employees are the most important in this crisis. They have to be able to work with confidence that we have done everything to give them a healthy environment.
They are my number one priority, small business is like a family.
First I established a personal work area for them, with the necessary equipment they need. Its small but it makes it easier to sanities. Its part of the public service area, one person at the time, but it creates a area were they have control. It is the ultimate clean space and they create it themselves and control it.
Big boost in confidence and moral.
If they have to leave their shelter I provide them with all they need. Face shield and masks and a private hand washing station.
We allow only 1 customer at the time to the counter and the counter has a plastic shield.

For me it is about my employees, my folks.

 

Colorado is now a Stay at Home state.
Officially my county has no cases, which I do not believe.
The Navajo Reservation has over 60 cases. All the surrounding counties have cases.

I treat it as if we have cases.

I am not afraid, but worried. I have a huge responsibility, my employees. They want to work.
I bought each employee a personal face shield, which is probably the best protection besides the available super masks for the hospital.
But any mask, leaves the eyes unprotected and they have to be shielded, too.
Every employee is encouraged to take his and her shield home and use it when they go shopping. I supplied them with gloves, for gasing up their cars.
To keep them healthy in their private live I went with all of them through the routine of shopping. Put your shield on, get in the store, do your shoping, do not touch your face at all times. Load your stuff in the car. Go back were the sanitizers are. Sanitize your hands, take some to your car, sanities all door handles out side in side, steering wheel, shifter, face mask and than go home and stay home.

People look at me like a idiot, with my face mask. I do not give a crap.

Now I see plastic shields at the cash outs. We had it on our counter since a week, including 6 feet stripings and a 1 person at a time at the counter and the safe space for our employees.

Its a rather new ball game, I would say.

Never had such clean hands and I am the guy who shovels horse and pig shiiit at the farm and eats his sandwich at the same time.
