US Southern Command declared it's intention to combat "radical populism" in the region.

Combatting radical populism improves the investment climate.

One of the declared goals of Washington's installed International Law Enforcement Academy (LEA) in El Salvador is to:

    *cringe* :dohtwo:

The Hudson Institute, an establishment think tank, a long with members of Congress from both parties and admistration officials have been discussing ways to combat "radical populism."

This is why Washington has been remilitarizing the countries in the region. In Salvador, Washington even got President Funes to purge (real) FMLN officials from his administration and replace them with US Army School of the Americas graduates. But I'll save that for another thread.

Radical populism is one the terms that replaced "Communism" or "new nationalism" before it. According to the internal documents, in these cases, "radical" means people or governments that are acting in ways that affect US corporate and power interests adversely. Also called "subversives."
