https://www.rosalux.de/en/news/id/49756/making-russia-great-again However, my experience is different. Here in Germany, many leftists are on Putin's side. Of course, they are against the war but claim that not Putin but the US is to blame (btw, leftists blame the US for any misfortune in the world). However, the article above is expressly directed against the Putin regime. This is strange since beloved ruZZia is the motherland of hardcore communism. Usually, lefties don't shy away from any lies to whitewash Ruzzia. But here they do exactly the opposite. I like this article on "Rosalux.de" very much!
I don't find that strange. Since Russia isn't communist anymore there is little reason for any sort of ideological attachment to the current Russian state. It's taken a while to make the transition however. In the US the left didn't start abandoning Russia until about 2013. However in the third world Russia still has a lot of good relations with extremist leftist regimes like Venezuela. It's a legacy foreign policy of the Soviet Union supporting revolutionary groups in the third world for half a century I think, so there is still a lot of warm feelings for Russia among actual third world leftists. Western leftists, like you have in Europe and the US, are fake posers.
Its rejected practically everywhere, which is why its weird that the some populist RW folks in US are all-in supporting Russia.
No, they did not. Well, who knows what "international left" even means, but hardly anyone loved totalitarian communism seeing the misery the USSR was in. Typically "the left" desired for West European style welfare systems, but without the USSR style lack of opportunity, - or lack of everything. Yes, and its getting worse. IMO a military coup is a very real possibility there, and if that happens, a lot of people would die.
If Russia had a coup things could get very dangerous as you would have several radical groups fighting to gain control over nukes. We would then be actually living in crimson tide movie script.
First there would be be those who want to throw Putin out fighting against the loyalists and hopefully their goal is to restore order, not the opposite, but they are Russians so who knows.
