If so, and you own an Android, you should check out RFO Basic. I've programmed in various languages throughout the years, but this is definitely my favorite. I'm thinking about remaking a political text based rpg I made awhile back at some point in the future, now that I've been sober for a month. Sadly, I didn't back up the source code before I sold my old Android for crack. (Sadly, that wasn't a joke - but I guess it's still kinda funny.

If you don't own an Android, JavaScript is pretty cool too. I'm also wanting to make a JavaScript program for a webpage that pretends to be an NSA website where various gov't usernames such as GWB and BHO make entries into a database of members of politicalforum who are targeted for "cancellation" due to their political beliefs, with a messgebox containing the offending quote from various users of PF. It would be a joke, kinda like pretending that GWB and BHO are both on the payroll of the NWO, or something like that. :)

If anyone here wants to help contribute ideas or programs to, please let me know. I'm just a novice, but I've had a lot of fun over the years starting with Apple Basic, and now playing around with RFO. Also, if you are interested in learning to program, send me a PM. I'm at a turbulent time in my life, trying to straighten some things up before I really can relax enough to code again, and hoping I still have enough brain cells to do it, lol.

I've always admired people who could do game programming. I tried various aspects of it myself years ago, but no matter how much I studied there were fundamentals that were simply beyond my grasp. I have an annoying mind in that the things that other people find mind-boggling in its complexities I usually find relatively easy to grasp and do, but the things that nearly anybody can grasp about a subject and put into practice turns out to be utterly beyond me. Weird, eh?

Anyway, I shan't return to programming as I've long since moved on to other things, but I shall wish you good fortune in your endeavors. Your idea sounds intriguing. Oh . . . and also best of good fortune in remaining drugs free. Things are going better for you in your life now, and that's wonderful!

Unreal, Unity, and the soon to be released Source 2 engine from Valve are all completely free to download and use. Of course, the license agreements do stipulate that if you publish and sell software/games with these engines, you must pay fees and/or royalties.

This is a relatively new business model as it used to cost anywhere from tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars to license and use some of these game engines. They've finally realized that they can make more money by giving the engine away and let people learn and get used to the software, since, without an upfront cost, many more people are inclined to use it or try it out. It's pretty much a win-win for everyone.

Just wanted to post an update, I've finally got around to making a text based political rpg game, it's called Euphoria. If you want to check it out, here's the link: http://www.4shared.com/zip/KdqjWFuPce/Euphoria.html
    Just unzip and run Euphoria.exe.
Like most rpg's, you'll have to work your way up before you can take on some of the stronger characters, but as far as I know this is the first political rpg, where you can fight people like Micheal Moore and Rush Limbaugh, and they say different things when they fight.

I'll give one example, if you fight Hillary, and you win, the last thing she says before she perishes is "I was gonna be president, but at this point, what difference does it make?"

If you fight Rush Limbaugh, he'll take a moment to pop a pain pill from time to time. Sarah Palin attacks by throwing "Alaskan snowballs", and Micheal Brown will try and grab your weapon out of your hand.

I tried to make it as entertaining as it is offensive, and no matter what your politcal beliefs are, you're bound to see something you like in it, and something you don't like so much, lol.

Anyway, just wanted to update the thread saying I finally made the game :)
