Taking the Christian version of the fantasy that is the saga of the heavens and its mystical inhabitants, and analyzing it in relation to the nature of the world, its quite clear that God is either pure evil, or he was defeated by Lucifer, who is now God. No benevolent being could permit or 'design' the nature of the world and universe as it is. Constant death, decay, disease and suffering - most of which is NEVER chosen and NEVER earned. Christians try to blame people for their suffering but its a response that falls FAR short of a convincing or logical explanation. What of all the people born into pain and suffering? What if the righteous that die horrifically? The very character of life is one filled with tragedy and random brutality. It is all clear and undeniable evidence that if the magical stories of the Bible have any truth to them, they miss the fact that God is in fact evil, or was, in line with the subpar drama of ancient Middle East script writers, defeated by Lucifer who now runs the show. It's either that, or God doesn't exist. It's the problem of evil articulated so succinctly by Epicurus many years ago: Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?
Of course. Just seems to me that believers are essentially satanic and sadistic - they praise an evil being for making them suffer and cause others to exist in pain.
Not really. You are oversimplfying the belief in God and the afterlife. IMO it should not matter how or what people believe as long as they don't infringe on your rights.
The belief is simply that God has spelled out laws, rules or whatever you want to call it in order to be saved. God also gave us freewill in order to get there or not.
But he clearly created an evil world full of misery for his amusement. He is clearly a vile creature.
No, not really. He/she/it created a world that was perfect and freewill corrupted it. The world is not just of misery, it is full of wonder hope and kindness as well. It is all based off our freewill to choose how to make it.
Tell that to the 9 million children who die every year before they reach the age of 5. Tell that to their parents. It breaks down to about 17 or so a minute so maybe tell them all at once.
There are good things in life and bad things in life.....Freewill gives us choices to make things better or worse......
Yeah but we didn't CAUSE IT. God did. That makes God responsible. Not us - him. By not doing anything that makes him morally bankrupt and evil.
There is no such thing as free will. And if you want to claim that there is then explain to me where your thoughts are before you think them.
Really? So someone controls how you react to something or the mood you have? You have no freewill? Sorry to hear that.
Again, tell that to the 9 million children who die every year before they reach the age of 5. Tell that to their parents. It breaks down to about 17 or so a minute so maybe tell them all at once.
So earthquakes were impossible until two teenagers ate fruit off a tree because a talking snake convinced them to do it?
I said if you want to claim we have free will then explain to me where your thoughts are before you think them. Your ignorance of a topic doesn't make the topic invalid, it just makes you ignorant of the topic.
I have no idea. Don't build BTW on a fault zone - - - Updated - - - So what you want is a God that controls every aspect of our lives? Is that what you are looking for?
"Where were you when I laid the foundations of the heavens and the pillars of the Earth, If thou hast knowledge, Declare" (Book of Job, who are we to question God?) Evil does not exist, but only the relative absence of good. Heat is the kinetic motion of molecules, Cold is the absence of heat, one cannot exist without the other. (St. Augustine/Book of Ecclesiastes) All bs, of course. You can't prove the existence of God for the same reason you can't prove his NON-existence. You accept it on Faith or you don't. To me, having a big imaginary friend in the sky who will punish those we see getting away scot-free with evil all the time and give us an eternal "life" AFTER we die, (so what do you mean by 'die' anyway?) is the very essence of wishful thinking. If it helps you get through the day I guess there's no harm in it, but when you want to kill me because I DON'T believe in your delusion, then I get upset.
What did these 9 million children who die every year before they reach the age of 5 do or choose that caused their suffering and death?
