I have a newsflash for you TC, black folks don't need anyone to tell us who is racist and who is not. We can pretty much figure that out for ourselves. I don't think EITHER parties policies really do anything to help black folks, but I guess folks are conditioned to pick the lesser of two evils.

I just read a U.S. News and World Report article from 2016 that cited a poll of African-American parents. Over 90 percent of the parents believe that it is important for their kids to have good teaching materials and get prepared for college or for a career, according to the poll results. The respondents were concerned about the quality of teachers that were available in their kids schools. That should end the maligning of blacks as people who don't support education and success.

Bullying does not exist in the white community for good grades. There is tremendous pressure to do well in school and there are nothing but positive consequences for excelling in school. Asian culture is ahead of white culture in this regard and this explains why they are doing better than whites (as are Nigerian immigrants by the way).

Bullying among whites occurs when you are a geek and don't fit in. You've seen the white shooters.... generally they were freaks that were rejected by the community they lived in. Whites can be very cruel to nerds but it is based on social/physical awkwardness and not scholastic achievement.

Your belief that I said all black people are parents is a fallacy. The fact that 90 percent of African-American parents express the sentiment revealed by the poll is significant. Who do you think sets the tone for the education of children in homes? People who don't have them? My point is to steer you away from random YouTube videos that are sensationalized and to what black people say about education and success when they are polled.

 

And unfortunately way too many of those parents in the black community are single parents. Statistically this correlates with a higher rate of illiteracy among many other social ills.

It's not a parenting issue. It's a peer issue.

It's not a "black" issue. It's an economic class issue.

I am a so-called "white" person, who grew up in the projecks. I made the "honor roll" a few times. You'd better believe that no one knew it.

 

I'm certainly a proponent of two parent married households. Most African-Americans graduate from high school. Black women have high college enrollment rates. Coming from a single parent household, doesn't mean that your parent didn't value education.

 

I don't think he was talking about you in particular but the majority of black society.

What's happened to the education gap? What's happened to the crime gap? What's happened to the birth out of wedlock gap?

Are you proud of the societal record of the black segment of our population?

 

Of course it doesn't. And I'm sure most of those parents want better for their kids than they had for themselves. Unfortunately broken homes leads to increased poverty, less time spent with the kids, lower education, etc. Kids from single parent homes are going to have a rougher time making it.

 

It's a parenting issue AND a peer issue they are not mutually exclusive. And it's a crime issue. And it's an education issue. And a black societal issue of the acceptance of the former and a lack if importance on the second. The crime and the societal norms is what has to change. How we, or rather black society, does that is the 64 dollar question.
