Our world is getting larger in one sense in that we now have access to the music of so many more cultures than we might have imagined a generation or so ago.

Along with this, we are encountering a variety of musical instruments that we had never imagined.

Does anyone else here particularly enjoy the sound of or know how to play an instrument that others might think exotic?

I have already pointed out the marvels of the kora and the djeli ngoni, the thing that my man Bassekou Kouyate is holding in my avatar picture.

From the same culture, I also enjoy the kamele ngoni, which sort of resembles a small kora and is the driving sound in the music of the Wassoulou region, made popular around the world by artists like Oumou Sangare and Fatoumata Diawara.
