I cited stats. I don't accept your hand waving assumptions.

My point is to show that there is a serious problem that America should be working on.

Who is "OUR"? In my lifetime it has been the Democrat party that has worked diligently for 50+ years to keep them dependent on the Democrat party monetarily, housing, food at in the 50's alcohol, arms and finally drugs!

That's what Jesus directed in Matthew 25:31 to end, and that those who are not seeking to help those in prison, poverty, hospital, etc. are going to HELL - even if they are following Jesus.

But, not everyone gives a crap about what Jesus said, of course.

So, I'd just point out that we are better off as a country when we make it more possible for everyone to contribute. Poverty can hit successful people due to health events, corporate change of direction, etc., and relegating them to the ash pit of poverty, even generational poverty is just plain self destructive on a national scale.

We're a stronger, more wealthy nation when we reduce sickness and poverty.

Or, you can just sign on to be a Christian!

I'm pointing out what your stats say. That's not hand waving that's disgusting the topic.

If you have to leave and you're making excuses because the amount at which you could BS me has been reduced. Tuck your tail and slink away
This is false, is to pretend to the problem is guns so you don't have to address the problem.

I never said people should drive without seatbelts. What I said was the constant haranguing from NHTSA et. al. about wearing your seatbelts is way past it's usefulness. It's been 60 years since they were invented, if folks don't want to wear them now you're probably not going to convince anyone else with yet another annoying ad. May as well save the taxpayers some money.

There IS an opportunity that data can help us get a better read on the firearms catastrophe in the USA.

One contributing factor is that the suicide rate by gun is shown to be 3X higher in the USA than other first world countries.

What's wrong with America? I think it's a great place to be!!

Why do this many American children give up on life? What is it about our society that causes them to actually WANT to die? Are other countries experiencing the same problem, but just with children not being armed so that their first attempt is successful?

That is an important question. It says something about who we are.

Also, it's interesting to note that the rapid growth in gun death of children is weighted toward actual assault, with accidents playing a very small part in the increase. So, why have assault deaths spiked in the last few years?

    What changed?

The suicide proportion is horrible, of course, but it isn't what is causing the spike of the last few years. It's been constant since 2017. The increase in suicide deaths came in the several years before that.

This is all based on the KFF cite above. I've checked others and haven't seen conflicts.

Or the data is incorrectly calling 18 and 19 years olds children in order to manipulate you. But you get a little weepy when I point that out.
So why are people committing suicide isn't this an issue of mental health? Why ignore this issue to talk about guns?
Some people aren't happy it's largely young men in betting there is a huge overlap between depressed suicidal young people and broken families but you got triggered last time I tried to bring that up. Are you capable of discussing this?
Children or 18and 19 year olds?
A good place to start, are they in broken families.
The only reason you want to bring up other countries is to moan about gun control. Do you care about this issue or do you want to moan about guns?
The answers are pretty obvious that's why you are avoiding them

More Americans have died in car accents in the passed 100 years then in all wars since the revolution combined. If you cared about people dying that would be as much of an issue as murder and suicide.

Oh wait it doesn't help along your agenda so **** those dead people right?

Again, NHTSA has statistics. About 1.7 deaths per 100 million miles. For quite a long time.

And again you're proving my point. There are 3 kinds of lies- big ones, little ones, and statistics.

I don't see another appropriate term for the comparison of where we are and what ALL other first world nations have accomplished.

I pointed out in my first reference to auto safety that the NHTSA is highly active in collecting data and examining safety improvements. Further, the reason for pointing that out is that data has been of critical import in reducing auto deaths.

We should have a similar organization oriented to collecting information on gun use and death in America.

If you have a point, maybe you should state it.

    ???
I've pointed out that it IS a serious issue.

And, we have been working on that for MANY decades, having success in reducing auto deaths overall, as well as reducing deaths in the population younger than 19, or whatever.

I'm getting tired of the stupid reasons for ignoring the issue of American children dieing by gunshot.

I'm trying to discuss solutions ways to address them. Pointing at them isn't much value.
    Have we?
then stop moaning about guns these clearly something else wrong.

If you're frustrated with your own nonsense, stop. It's that easy.

I've stated my point quite plainly. People in general are largely innumerate. My mother-in-law used to state quite emphatically that there were 30 million traffic deaths a year. No mom, you heard that wrong. If that were the case no one would ever drive again. And she was pretty normal. And certain political persuasions like yours try to use that to shame others into agreeing to sacrifice their freedom. All I'm asking is honesty so people know why they're giving it up.

And I've worked for NHTSA. Yes, they have established FMVSS regulatory and testing standards that have been in place, largely unmodified, for decades. They also keep track of death rates and make them publicly available.

I suggest you look them up.

The vast vast vast majority of unlawful homicides in America occur at the hands of criminal gangs in Blue Cities, felons, operating openly and illegally armed. Too much of the Left is focused on disarming their political opponents with catch and release, no bail, converting felonies to misdemeanors in order to ensure that these illegally armed felons are back out on the streets, preying on the innocents, as quickly as possible. That is the reason for the Lying Fake News focus on AR-15's and the mass shootings that are not carried out by illegally armed felon gang members.

THE DAILY CHART: AMERICA’S URBAN EXODUS
    [IMG]
'Americans are fleeing the cities for suburban and rural areas, as well as moving en masse from blue states to red states. Here’s what the exodus looks like in chart form: Here’s the Census Bureau’s scatterplot look: And this one is especially illuminating: murder rates in some American cities are as high as they were in European nations in the savage Middle Ages (and this data is from 2015, so if this plot were done today it would be much worse):'

there are more poor whites in the USA than all the blacks-rich ones, poor ones, middle class ones. yet blacks commit more murders than whites. that's not a racist argument-it is undeniable facts. His accusation was not racist and claiming so is weak

Anyone who shows up at my home, to pick up my firearms, absent me having committed a crime is pretty much by definition a 'jack boot'. As for your 'gun related disaster', I will point you once again to the crime statistics compiled by the FBI, that shows clearly that up until the pandemic hit (along with 'defund the police', the summer of riots, and a spread of DAs who refuse to prosecute the offenders of various crimes), crime was at a 30-year (and pretty much all-time) low in the USA, both in homicides and practically every other category. This is a fact.

Another fact is that, during that 30-year period, gun ownership, including your hated 'assault weapons' exploded, and they went from somewhat common to insanely popular! That was probably related to the '94 ban, which you want to repeat, with almost certainly similar results.

Yes, the Constitution was written in the 1700s. And it's a testament to the genius of the men who wrote it that a simple document, that took, what, 4 months to debate and finalize created the Country that is today the greatest that has ever existed! And it can, and has adapted to the changes in the society that it created, sometimes violently (unfortunately), others by subtle means. But sometime around the 1950-60s, the Congress forgot about the Amendment process, and they haven't really attempted to use that tool ever since. For good ideas, or bad!

Yes, it's hard, but it's supposed to be. But when an idea is good enough, it's a tool that should be used. Entire departments exist today that are not Constitutional, the US Air Force probably being the most visible example, and one that would be such an easy Amendment to get, it would probably pass inside of a week with all but a few nutjobs voting no. So why don't they do so?

You tell me, and we'll both know.

Still, the Constitution as written, and Amended, still stands in full force today, including the 2nd Amendment. I know you don't like that. That is your right. You can try to get it changed, but that's not going to happen, at least anytime in our lifetimes. Far too many people, myself certainly included, believe that the 2nd only protects a pre-existing human right, but does not create it.

I would go so far as to say that the 2nd isn't even needed, as the right it protected by the 9th and 10th, either in combination or separately. But, I won't have to be making that case anytime soon.

the problem is this-you claim the serious problem is what is essentially a declining rate of violent crime with a couple aberrant years during Covid. IN reality, the solutions anti gun Democrats propose are not rationally related to solving the problem you all claim vexes you. Rather the problems your "solutions" seem rationally related to is harassing lawful gun owners and thus it appears what you really see as the problem, is a large number of gun owning voters who started voting aGAINST democrats. This started when Democrats tried to pretend gun control was crime control in the 1960s

and I am tired of gun banners pretending that their schemes are actually motivated by dead children and that their "solutions" are sensible ways of decreasing that.
