An Islamic extremist has been found guilty of murdering a passer-by in the street.

Moroccan asylum seeker Ahmed Alid, 45, stabbed 70-year-old Terence Carney multiple times in Hartlepool in October.

He later told police it was in protest against Israel and the Gaza conflict.

Alid was found guilty of murder and the attempted murder of his housemate, who he had attacked before the fatal stabbing of Mr Carney.

He will be sentenced on 17 May at Teesside Crown Court.

    'Truly horrific'
In a statement released after the verdict, Mr Carney's family said: "For us, things will never be the same again."

The family thanked a number of people, especially Mr Nouri and two other men who gave evidence, Ariyan Karimi and Mohammed Karimi.

"What they themselves endured that night was truly horrific, they believed they too were going to die.

"Despite this, they fully assisted the police with their enquiries and gave their evidence in court, which is testament to their characters.

"These three men were the voice of our loved one, when he was unable to speak out for himself. For this we will forever be grateful to them."

I wonder if it will be imprisonment in the UK or deportation? I’m thinking the former, put it this way if it was a relative of mine who was the victim, especially a 70 year old…..cultural enrichment at its finest

I’m with you here, we have our own “wrong’uns” however we don’t need to be taking in the rest of the worlds whilst we continue to underfund services, such as law enforcement

Blair Labour caused similar ruin to Thatchers Tories in this country, however Blairs policies are longer lasting, in my opinion. (I’m not a Tory voter) Pikeys, wasters and criminal (creeps or not) are unfortunately a long standing British problem, why people want to come here is beyond me but I don’t think we should be taking other countries problematic folk. Our prisons are full.

I live in the countryside-ish, on the Staffordshire/Cheshire border and even in this small community, unfortunately there is the occasional criminal issue

....I was of the view that the Tories went Blarite so that that monger Cameron could win. Anyway after that there wasn't much of a tory party left....being a lonely semi-Thatcherite I was of the view it's pointless voting tory so have been voting Green every since....:D....gives me smartie points with the kids.....

I live in the Sarf east in North Kent....we do have a crime issue.....and not many police on view....although if there's an incident on the M2 or M25 it's gob smacking how many suddenly appear out of nowhere!!
