I totally back Apple on this one. I do not use their(Apple) products, but I support all efforts to keep peoples information private, especially on smart phones and the web, if users want it private. Hopefully they stick with and expand this so people at least understand their cyber habits are being tracked for advertising or other purposes if they allow an app to do so. I think they would be surprised to find what simple apps are tracking them if they(the app) are forced to disclose that and ask for permission. I don not use their(Facebook) products, but am glad they are upset as they track and sell a lot of user data. I also hate advertising, and i am sure you do to.
Hey as long as its straight forward and the user agrees to it Apple can track all the information they want (Although the article states they profit more from hardware than tracking for advertising) , Facebook does not want you to have that option for it or other apps.
Wow, this might actually get me to switch to an iPhone. There's no way Google will put a feature like this into Android.
As an Android use, we can only hope this is a popular and talked about action, and it forces their hand. I have only found this discussed on BBC world so far, does not seem a popular topic on American news outlets yet. Hopefully Fox will pick it up if Facebook throws enough of a fit
Would you rather pay more for you internet access or have to pay for subscriptions to all the sites you go to? I personally like having the ads targeted to me for things I might actually be interested in and filter things I am not. I'd rather have some ads than having to pay for access.
I doubt it matters. Anything with Apple's name on it isn't allowed in my house and I don't use Facebook in any way. I don't google with Google. Nevertheless I'm bombarded with over 100 spam emails every day. Let's put a 10 cent fee on every email. That may put a crimp on spam.
I wouldn't get my hopes up. Google and the like want all of ones data, it is the new currency. The best is to be aware of those apps that do collect personal data and avoid using them.
Anything that hinders the racist platform called facebook is good. This weekend will see professional football boycott suckerbergs racist hustle due to his promotion of racist stereotypes.
