Fast food... even fungus doesn´t eat it...

    A 14 year old hamburger, simply kept in its original packing... good as new.

    And this stuff doesn´t come without a health warning...How on earth do we expect our bodies to digest this stuff, oh, that's right, they don´t.

    I'm trying to cut down on my intake of fast food because of this.

    But ultimately, people have to make the decision themselves about what food they put in their mouth.

    I gotta tell you dude, I have made changes in my diet over a course of several years. I still love to eat fast food and do occasionally. But after evolving from the American "see food diet" to smoothies with stuff like kale, ginger, spinach, collard greens, celery and other things like that, my body lets me know its disapproval when I eat wrong. The better I eat, the more my body protests when I stray away from the right stuff. It is amazing what we have gotten our bodies used to, and it's not for the good. Even so-called "healthy" stuff marketed as such (one of my "favorite" brands is "Nature Valley", their stuff isn't much better than a candy bar) is absolute poison.

    Oh and just wait till you get my age, almost 50. Trust me, you are doing the right thing. Make and expand the changes you are making now. Your body will thank you later. I absolutely guarantee it.

    Rather than banning large sodas and suing McDonalds, our education system should be educating people on eating properly. As you said, ultimately people are responsible for what they put into their mouth. While there is plenty of information out there for people to make good choices, education can and should do more.

    Totally agree. Those healthy lunch programs that Michelle Obama endorses aren't going to do much help. Parents need to be teaching their children healthy ways of eating, not the government.

    Also, soda is perhaps my biggest downfall. I've cut down significantly on fast food, but soda is still addictive. I have cavities setting in because of it.

    Soda was the toughest one for me- sugar and caffeine are pretty strong addictions. Soda manufacturers know EXACTLY what they are doing. You'll get there.

    Parents are failing sense much of the country is overweight, nothing wrong with the first lady bring attention to a cause such as this

    Ace good post. Im right there with you. I also changed my diet a while ago and as you say it is very interesting now that 1) you find yourself not craving those bad foods nearly as much and 2) at least for me when I eat crappy food, my body immediately rejects it within the hour which makes me definitely think twice before eating the crap next time.
    Also very important to read labels. These companies flat out lie which irritates me because some people wont actually turn the label to calculate fat content. The next time you in a grocery store, look for yogurt that says "fat free" on the label then turn it around and divide the fat calories into the calories x 100 for % fat. It should report Fat calories = 0 but some of them are 75-90% fat if you do the math. You may as well eat ice cream. They do this on all foods where they can. When I called a popular Yogurt company they first said it was fat free if the label says so. When I explained I was a Scientist and told them where I worked they then changed their tune and told me the Fat Free label was for the fact they used Fat Free milk in the process of making the 75% fat yogurt and that they thought my first question was about the milk being used. Total BS. So when you look at this label now back on the front, they have now added a footnote on the fat free in microscopic lettering called *milk content down at the very bottom. Some of them even go so far as to highlight the footnote like *NON FAT MILK PRODUCT! as if thats a good thing. You have to be astute enough to catch the "*". So if you have parents or anyone else on strict diets where fat is to be monitored please explain this to them. Just remember they never post the most important calculation which is the % of fat. They do this because you wouldnt buy it if they did. So a yogurt that says fat free reports Calories from Fat = 75 and Calories =100 really means (75/100)X100=75% fat. Doesnt matter how much of it you eat, it means even if you eat one spoonful 75% of what is on your spoon is fat even though you thought it was fat free.
    Now dont get me started on Motts apple juice!
