The best sandwich is vegemite and cheese on white bread. No butter or margarine because the cheese does that job. you spread the vegemite nice and thick in one or two motions. Then you slap a slice or pre-cut Coon block cheese on there and put the other bit of bread on top. Dont cut it and dont use a plate. You can make that in about 10 seconds and its a pretty filling sandwich because of the Coon cheese. And it is as Australian as hell. - - - Updated - - - Im going to go make one of those right now. Be back in ten seconds.
Another good sandwich is left over pork roast sandwich with mayonnaise (it has to be Miracle Whip for that tang), and lettuce and tomato. That is SOOO good. Also, the Thanksgiving sandwich is pretty good, with turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce. I'm making myself hungry now!
Here is one you might like, Cook a link of Italian sausage, it must be a bit seared on the outside, a thick slice of mozzarella cheese, a dollop of tasty pasta sauce, a hoagie roll, slice the sausage, place the cheese, the sauce, Parm cheese optional, place the sandwich in a sandwich grill until toasty.....
Hard-boiled egg whisked up with mayo and salt and pepper, with sliced tomato. I'm a man of simple tastes!
According to legend, there was an Earl, he liked to have guests over to play many types of games, cards, board games etc.... And supposedly he invented the sandwich concept. - - - Updated - - - The sandwich is considered to be the namesake of John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich, because of the claim that he was the eponymous inventor of this food combination.[6][7] The Wall Street Journal has described it as Britain's "biggest contribution to gastronomy".[8] A sandwich is a convenient food to avoid the interruption caused by conventional dining. Perhaps the birth of fast food ? Pizza was next ? Hotdogs on a bun ?
Hamburg Germany. Some German in Hamburg was looking at a big slab of chuck and decided to put it through a grinder. But then he didn't know what to do with the ground chuck. Then many years later some American decided to fry the ground chuck and stick it between two pieces of bread.
Roast beef sandwiches are pretty good too. I like to make sandwiches out of leftover roast beef or pork roast. Those are so good.
"The exact origin of the hamburger may never be known with any certainty. Most historians believe that it was invented by a cook who placed a "Hamburg steak" between two slices of bread in a small town in Texas, and others credit the founder of White Castle for developing the "Hamburger Sandwich." Records from that time are scarce, however. All claims for invention occur between 1885 and 1904, making it probable that the hamburger was created sometime in these two decades...
