The probe of the Clinton foundation began more than a year ago to determine whether financial crimes or influence peddling occurred related to the charity. Some investigators grew frustrated, viewing FBI leadership as uninterested in probing the charity.

Others further down the FBI chain of command, however, said agents were given a much starker instruction on the case: “Stand down.” When agents questioned why they weren’t allowed to take more aggressive steps, they said they were told the order had come from the deputy director—Mr. McCabe.

It sounds as if McCabe was caught between DOJ higher-ups who wanted the Clinton Foundation probe jettisoned or significantly defanged, and line agents who were angry and suspicious that their work was being undermined by a political agenda.

It would be up to Congress to enable it would it not? I'd like to see this Congress grow balls of steel and appoint the Prosecutor and Grand Jury with full subpoena powers and see what Obama does.

Nope, it ends up with the AG.

"As a result of Watergate, in 1977 Congress passed the Ethics in Government Act (EGA) which for the first time defined procedures for the appointment of a special prosecutors. Specifically, the Act provided that upon receiving allegations relating to certain "covered persons", the Attorney General was required to conduct a preliminary investigation. If the preliminary investigation suggested that further investigation was warranted, the AG was required to petition three judge panel established by the statute and known as the "Special Division," to appoint an "independent counsel." Several aspects of the Act require further explanation."

And certainly the AG works for the President who could call for one as Clinton did when he called on Reno to appoint one to investigate White Water et al which she did.

Congress can request one and the AG has to report back as to why not if not. But then that turns it into a political mess. This is on Obama's watch and his AG is the one who needs to act to insure the people the integrity of the government.

But the bottom line it is high time the Democrat Congressional leadership stood up along side the DNC and called Ms. Clinton in and tell her that if she wins her first act as President will be to resign and turn it over to Kaine else the Democrats will start impeachment in the House. Else she is going to put the country through far worse than did her husband.

Obama's administration has been hush hush, not criticizing the FBI. I sense fear permeates that administration.

Is this similar to the "stand down" order given during Benghazi?
Non existent, except in the minds of those who want to believe it?

Yes, exactly what the article says is investigation into the Clinton foundation was dropped because after exhaustive efforts no wrong doing could be found.

Now on the other hand the Trump foundation has been ordered to close because of extensive data that it was a fraudulent charity.

How you got that out of the article is beyond me. Are you sure not mixing it up with the email scandal ?

How do you explain then the DoJ not allowing subpoenas, formal witness interviews, or grand-jury activity if this was a real investigation ?

    - - - Updated - - -

There were no exhaustive efforts as the DoJ wouldnt allow it

The FBI should be investigating Attorney General Lorreta Lynch for obstruction of justice and bribery.
    1. Bill Clinton meets with her privately.
    2. Hillary Clinton then announces she would re-appoint Lynch as attorney general if elected.
    3. In response, Lynch announces she will not act on any evidence nor allow any grand jury to examine evidence.

Quid pro quo. No grand jury in exchange for a promise of re-appointment.

Gotta say it: the administration of your country seems pretty f***ed up. I think "drain the SWP" just about nails it.

Hillary kept saying unprecedented. Of course it is, the first time the people put up a candidate to run that may be indicted is unprecedented.

Just like we tried to warn people about Obamacare, we tried to warn people about Hillary but once again, called names and ignored.

Not only are people ignoring these obvious signs of corruption and lies, some people actually WANT her to be President. Shows how stupid America has become.

It's the people against the elitist.

    Look who's in Hillary's Camp:

    - Wall Street,
    - Big business,
    - Corporate media
    - And now TECH companies

The elite do not just give money away, they are INVESTING in Hillary because they believe that Hillary will benefit the rich.

    Think about that

If Hillary wins, how do we stop corruption, there will be no one to go to. What mades anyone think Hillary won't be padding her coffer, policies in favor big money. She will have tighter control.

It just goes to show you that we are not a nation of laws. We are a nation of laws for some people who don't have enough money to pay the FBI and Justice system off.
Congrats fellow Americans, our government is officially no better than Mexicos corrupt cartel run debacle.

Because they figured out that there was no case. Is that too difficult to understand?

Loretta Lynch and her cronies in the FBI figured out there was no case, the actual investigators believed they had a great case.

I don't think many actually want her, but they want Trump less. They regard her as the lesser of two evils.

I am sure you won't understand this. But that is what minorities and poor people have been saying for decades.
