The fear that Putin will use nukes if we openly support Ukraine militarily is irrational. If Biden had declared that the US would send in troops if Russia attacks, then Putin would not attack.

Why do I say this? We can play out the scenario. If Ukraine was already part of NATO would Putin have attacked? No, because Russia can't beat the combined militaries of the US and Europe. Whether or not Ukraine is part of NATO doesn't change the fact that Russia has nukes. If Putin attacked Ukraine and it's part of NATO would we not help Ukraine because Russia had nukes? No, we'd be bounded to help and we'd conduct the war in a way to prevent it from escalating to nuclear war. The same prevention can be don't without Ukraine being part of NATO. But most likely, Putin would not have attacked Ukraine if he knew Kyiv had the military backing from the US. If Biden had not ruled out military backing from the beginning he could have prevented the deaths that we're seeing from his weakness. If he would have stared down Putin, Putin would have to treat the invasion of Ukraine as if had invaded a NATO country.

Well, Biden isn't exactly the sharpest crayon in the bulb drawer. And no one is stupid enough to use nukes these days, not even Kim Jong Phat or Putin, because everyone and their dog has them. Nuclear weapons have only ever been used twice in wartime, and that's only because no one else had them at the time. There was no fear of nuclear retaliation. It's called mutually assured destruction. If they launch their nukes, we launch ours, everyone dies, no one wins. No matter how mad you were at your neighbor, would you murder his family and burn his house to the ground knowing full well that your family would also be slaughtered and your house burned to the ground as well? No, you wouldn't...
