Why would anyone welcome this culture into their culture knowing what the consequences would be? They are not coming to be friendly and assimilate. We cannot let this happen in America. I would love to hear the arguments from the left because I can't fathom what the reasons to allow refugees in would be.

I knew this had to be from one of those right wing clickbait sites that promote fearmongering and peddle the false notion that Europe is lawless because of Middle Eastern immigrants. That's a message that's easy to sell to people who don't know much, and respond to the fearmongering that is core to right wing media (and core to Trump's message).

But I never got to read the article. The clickbait and pop ups were overwhelming.

So, I Googled the name of the town metioned in the OP.

Not surprisingly, I found a bunch of stuff from right wing fake news sites and trash blogs like Breitbart, all peddling anti Islamic xenophobia.

I found articles in Swedish too. All of them pretty tame local news.

I also found a story by a reporter who had actually been there to see what these "no go zones" so heavily promoted in American far right wing media are really like.

Not surprisingly, they aren't particularly dangerous or lawless.

Surprisingly, the author noted that the meme being promted in the OP's article is also promoted by Breitbart (no secret there, fearmongering is a core message with them), but also by Sputnik, the Kremlin propoganda service.

Indeed it was - we used to call it "The Melting Pot" Problem is, Europe doesn't have anything remotely like it apparently. That's why you have sprawling ghettos containing 4th-generation minorities of some kind or another that think of themselves as Muslims instead of Frenchmen, or whatever country they're in. THIS article explains why you had the French riots a decade back but are less likely to see them here. The US has this to a degree, but nowhere near like what exists in Europe. Bottom line is that you're right, the US was built on mixing cultures. It stops working when the other cultures cease to want to mix in. Then what?

Besides, that article is highly sensationalized. That person named Pekgul? According to her own statements, she never actually had any trouble with the people in Tensta. She only decided to leave the place preemptively.

 

Russ, let me tell you a story about two friends of mine who I went to school with. After graduation they both went to journalism school and both were hired by CBS in NYC. Together they became cameramen and film editors which took them to all parts of the world. Frank, an uber liberal, Clinton supporter and donor, goes all in for progressive causes. Joe, a Jehovah's Witness, just calls 'em as he sees 'em. They've both covered numerous stories in Europe and the ME for CBS and 60 minutes and both were almost killed covering Hurricane Katrina.

Frank the Liberal says there are no such things as no-go zones in Europe and all that bunk was created by Fox News. Joe reminds Frank about the times they were scared out of their minds, threatened by Muslims, and were prevented by the police from going into Muslim infested areas for their own safety. Frank says he's exaggerating. Joe reminds him about how CBS pulled them out of certain areas in FRANCE because it was too dangerous to remain there. Frank says CBS was overly cautious. Joe INSISTS they were both in no-go zones (although CBS doesn't refer to them like that) Joe insists no-go zones exist and are being downplayed for political reasons. Frank sticks to his story about no-go zones being a conservative fairy tale while Joe reminds him of how they both wanted more security and protection. Joe reminds Frank how CBS didn't want to send female crews to these areas, Frank says none were available.

During a debate we once had about Bill O'Reilly, I threw into Franks' face the Dan Rather scandal and Memogate. Frank said it didn't matter if the documents were fake or who falsified them, that they existed made them news and worthy of reporting, and that, by the way, was the position CBS took internally. Frank blocked me on Facebook about 8 months ago, he called me a racist of the worst kind.

I tried to get both of them to join this board about a year ago. Frank called this place a right wing circle jerk, Joe doesn't do politics.

I googled actual stories and provided one. Sorry, but youtube videos aren't a particularly good source of context. I realize that some people can only pay attention to a few minutes worth, but some more expansive information is usually necessary.
