Cities have cheap housing in some places, so the poor go there.

I think it's dumb to talk about the problems in cities from a political perspective, because 80% or so of the people you meet in reality don't give a damn about politics. They just want things fixed and working.

I'm saying they aren't going to vote for your worthless ass position of politics.

Im seeing 50+ years of unopposed single party rule in these cities and nothings changed.

So who's politics are actually worthless?

Nonsense. The cheap housing is out in the country. Why do you think the homeless are found in the cities not the country?

    Try opening up your eyes.

Things like the baby boom existed. Four long years of war and more than a decade of a depression before that created a housing boom after WWII. Our population was in a position to quickly recover.

We built suburbs and neglected cities.

I'm pretty sure that this video was the inspiration for AMG's Bitch Betta Have My Money, later remade by Rihanna.

Untrue. There are many things which can be 'weaponised.'

Buggered if I am aware of that infamy or of any weapons they carry which would attract any such interest.

And armed neighbors...your description did sound very, very, military. A good bit beyond just secure.

So because I'm not the only person in the area who is secure, it's a military camp?

As I said, your description made is sound military. If you have to reinforce windows and doors to that extent, then yes, it sounds military. And if I lived in a place where I felt I had to do more than lock my doors at night, I'd have the for sale signs out.

Well it's a suburban home, it's just able to be secured from thieves since we live in hurricane country where you sometimes have to be prepared to abandon your property for higher ground for a week or 2. Hence its able to be locked down.
We think these simple sensible preparation.

That would be because the people in cities will help the homeless and others won't. They don't head to Green Acres.

It makes more sense to me when you add in about the hurricanes. I can't really say I'm rural, but maybe suburbanized farm country. I came home one time and found a .308 on the floor and a hole in the wall. There's just no room for hunting anymore. There are some rentals a few hundred yards down, and the cops spend a fair amount of time there, but in the 20 years I've been here, we've never had a reason to be afraid. Guess I'm lucky.

Yes so called assault rifles aren't the only weapons. And of course you are assuming an assault ban would even work, how are you going to round them all up? You really think banning some guns because of the way they look with stop these crazed killers?

I ask because I know you like to be accurate. Your numbers are quite low. I believe in 2017 in the US there was a woman killed with a gun by a current or former partner every 9.6 or so hours. :)

On to the interesting stuff. In Australia the women killed by current and former partners is almost 16% of total homicides. In the US it is typically a little under 10%. So your claim is probably not accurate that safety isn’t enhanced by women’s access to firearms. Australian men are abusing, raping, and killing women with impunity. Perhaps a few more armed women would level the playing field some.

Why would I be afraid? I'm prepared.

Not defenseless, but far less likely to be injured if attacked while you are armed, according to the CDC.

You need to get further away from a barn.

I live in what used to be America's 50th largest city. The last time I was near a barn was before my great uncles died off back in the sixties.

Well actually Democratic policies drove people out of the cities. You got rid of cheap housing via policies and as city populations shrank rather reducing the city's payroll they increased taxes and drove out more businesses and lost more people and more money. Democratic policies these days cater only to the poor and the top Half of 1%. Everyone else is just cannon fodder for the failed war on poverty, which might better be described as the war on the traditional family.

Exactly so sir. One buys a gun for exactly the same reason one buys insurance to mitigate risk.
