For those who don't have access to Youtube (I know, I work myself) this man, a fire marshal, for tinted windows and a headlight being out. The Marshal shows the permit for the tint, says his headlights are fine, and then attempts to shut down the stop. The stop, which is invalid since nothing wrong has been done, lasts at least 13 minutes. For me as a teen, this was standard. I'd be stopped for simply walking home at night, had my ID checked, and often patted down. Now that I make money and have nice things, it doesn't happen. I'd say there needs to be college courses that teach you your basic rights when stopped be it walking, driving, whatever. This is important. What to the authoritarians seems reasonable (basically spread your cheeks on request) is not. If more people understand their rights then we can make this whole process faster as cops will be annoyed by how much of a pain the average stop is. This should in turn stop pointless harassment. It's clear the police refuse and actively fight against accountability. I don't think it's too much to ask for the cops to act like professionals rather than thugs.

Another video. In this one a law student suspects the officer who stopped her is off duty. She asks if he is on duty, to which he says "we're always on duty". She then asks if she is being detained. After some hem and haw, he says she is not, so she leaves. We need to know our basic rights when it comes to being stopped because the cops do not care and will use their position of authority and intimidation to keep you stop you and keep you there whether they have the legal right to do so or not.

More professionalism. Here a man is recording a cop. He has his hand out to keep the officer away (the man has done nothing that we can see). The cop continues into the man, who is trying to keep the officer away with his hand. He is arrested. Seems like an unnecessary arrest provoked by the officer.

More professionalism as a cop attempts to use a light then chases the filmers away. The second incident though, very well done. The cop asks for room, is not confrontational, explains his reasoning, perfect. That should be the standard. Yeah the guys filming this are, well a word that would get censored, but I'm glad to see these two encounters in the same clip because it shows the wrong and right way to handle things, you know, if we expect our police to be professional.
