If that happened, I would evaluate that choice based on the evidence presented regarding MLK. I don't think there is any question that the evidence regarding the acts of Columbus or Confederacy Generals are justifiable reasons for removing those statutes.

Columbus symbolizes the age of discovery.
He proved that it’s possible to sail that far. Because of him exploration of the world kicked in. That led to lessening of the influence of church on society and led to many scientific discoveries. In a way, your iPhone or Android phone exists because of his bold actions. If it wasn’t for him, we could be somewhere in 18th century now.
Leftists got so absurd, it’s beyond reason! Columbus symbolizes more than just oppression of locals. Besides, he was the man of his time. They didn’t have SJWs and woke liberals back then. If society was held back by a few hundred years, all those snowflakes would be drawn and quartered by local governments.

The south did not go to war to save slavery. They had no need to do so as the north had already capitulated and provided the Corwin amendment. An amendment which would have ended secession and guaranteed slavery as an inalienable constitutional right. An amendment which had already passed Congress, had full support from Lincoln and has been ratified by multiple union states.

Ignoring for a minute that less than 6% of white southerners owned slaves. If the argument is that the ruling class went to war to save slavery then why didn’t they simply sign the Corwin amendment?

Why would ANYBODY choose to risk everything they have including their wealth, lands, possessions, homes, position, power, the lives of their friends and families and even their own lives in a war that they KNEW they had little to no chance of winning in order to accomplish the EXACT same goal of the preservation of slavery that they could have accomplished with zero risk and a 100% guarantee of success simply by signing a piece of paper?
