Actually, traditional marriage was between one man and as many wives as he could afford by trading goats and cows for them. Sometimes traditions suck and need to change.

Can you also tell me what legislation has been written from the bench please, because as far as I am aware no new legislation has been introduced specific to homosexuals.

As others have pointed out, the Bible indicates marriage was between a man and as many women as he could support. If you read your Bible you will discover that the only limitations are in the Old Testament (a king should not have too many wives) and in the New Testament (a deacon should be a man with only one wife). All those homophobes who have been filling your head with "God says marriage is between one man and one woman" have been lying to you.

 

Legally it is, which is all I care about. Folks like you are free to call it what you want, legally it is marriage and legally that is what matters.

During the early days of the AIDS epidemic a plague of gay bashings took place here. We formed a gay martial arts club which attracted a number of very skilled instructors who bought our skills to a high standard working free of charge. We then used them to defend others on the beat, in parks etc putting a significant number of gay bashers in hospital for a long time. The police here took a blind eye to our activities. Those skills remain with us but in Australia we don't have the kind of insane gun culture you do in the US so unless you're involved in underworld crime the chances of having a gun pointed at you in anger are very small compared to the US.
