Australia requirements:

"Sexual assault is unwanted behavior of a sexual nature directed
towards a person:
which makes that person feel uncomfortable, distressed, frightened
or threatened, or which results in harm or injury to that person;
to which that person has not freely agreed or given consent, or to
which that person is not capable of giving consent;
in which another person uses physical, emotional, psychological or
verbal force or (other) coercive behavior against that person."

Not surprisingly, the classification of sexual assault between the two countries are similar.

United States requirements:

"Sexual assault is any form of sexual contact in which a person is tricked, lured, bribed, or forced into without his/her consent. The assault can come in different forms, such as visual, verbal, or physical. Anyone can perpetrate sexual assault, including a neighbor, family member, superior, acquaintance, clergy member or stranger. Sexual assault is most often a felony crime and it is punishable by prison time."

Both definitions dis-allow, non-physical/physical sexual orientation without consent from both able bodied adults.

The only difference is the U.S. definition is broader, which allows "tricked, lured" victims to fall under sexual assault.

When the USA classifies spitting on a cop as a serious assault I will concede there may just may be some points of comparison

But the way we gather the statistics are dissimilar - America does not keep statistics for sexual assault - Australia does
America keeps statistics for rape Australia does not.

"Any behavior of a sexual nature" is the equivalent to "sexual contact" which has been forced?

In what universe is telling someone to suck your **** the same as forcing someone to do so?

Please be assured....you are not my friend. My friends do not love guns and do not feel the need to carry them. We realize there is danger each day that we live and we are possessed of the courage to face that danger without guns. We know that the abundance of guns, the need for more and more guns, the love for guns above family and God, is a sickness that kills innocent people every day. Guns are representative of an aberrant disease. The NRA embraces all the symptoms of this disease. You are not my friend. John Wayne was not my friend. Charlton Heston was not my friend. I neither want nor appreciate your possession of an alternative to inadequate male equipment. If and when I see you being deprived of your gun physically by an elderly woman, rest assured, I will rescue you. I have appreciation of you as my fellow human! I hate your mentality and your gun!

"But then again I am not crazy about gun control, I just don't think its the end of the world."

Tell that to the 3 people killed yesterday by gunshot in Santa Barbara...the shooter died with 400 unused rounds....were you walking the streets of Santa Barbara yesterday? Had you been, he might have died with just 399 rounds remaining...but, ok, I see your point...'I just don't think its the end of the world'.....gotcha...now I get it .....

Congratulations! Your first post on here and you are already concerned about my undersized genitalia. While I appreciate your concern, I assure you that I am quite healthy and my beautiful wife has never complained of my performance. My 3 sons are very healthy and one of them is even in the USAF. I'm sorry you won't consider me as a friend because I believe in the 2nd Amendment, which is the law of the land. I'm proud that you are a brave person and don't believe in guns. Just remember that criminals avoid your house because they think it may be my house, unless you have posted a sign to let everybody know that you will not allow guns in your home. Have a nice day.

No, I didn't conveniently leave it out. Needless death is needless death...but let's start with a problem that screams for solution...and the solution is leadership. We have a mentally altered segment of our population that is causing innocent deaths daily, our streets run rampant with death machines wielding weapons and people of the Texan ilk, though 'packin', can't save us (he wants to be our friend). Specifically, I'm speaking of the inability of our elected lawmakers to confront a segment of our population who seem incapable of feeling adequate without a mechanized instrument of death. Some of them are responsible gun owners but, responsible or not, their guns frequently end up in the hands of those who want to kill us....without respect to our identity...sick people who are p.o and do not care if it is your child, my grand mother or 'fast draw' Texan...It would be great if those who love guns beyond anything but their own life, would look inward, realize they are sick....and get help....this diatribe targets diseased gun owners and impotent lawmakers...others, please do not take offense...well I'm not crazy about Hummer owners either...but, another day....

Texan--I'm going to keep this short...damn, there I go again...sorry, that comment was below the belt...damn, again, I'm sorry! I like your style but I'm still not your friend however, as you say, if I was being attacked by a menacing presence and you could quickly come from Texas ((We don't call 911....pic of gun below statement) and save me, you would then be my friend. I had a gun once but an elderly woman took it away from me and pistol whipped me with it! I started a campaign to rid the earth of elderly women...but, that failed so, I'm tackling the gun issue now beginning with the Patty Murray letter. I'm happy for you and your wife and thank you for that information...but, please realize, I only knew you had a gun...unaware of the wife! I feel that I must caution you about guns in beds...small statistic...whoops, sorry....but injuries do occur when guns are taken to a cockfight....I know that many sons are like their fathers and I'm sure you have character worth emulating...I hope at least one of your sons will tell you...'Dad, lose the guns, if you need protection...I'll be there for you! Train them in the martial arts...some of these old women are tough....I would like you to have a great day...too....

Poppycock. If you embrace your courage, drop all insurance. Guns were never a problem until the left wing media and movies made them a problem. They are a tool, plain and simple. Do you actually think that women that carry are worried about their penis size? Really?

What I hate is arrogance and self righteousness of those afraid of a tool.

I know you're not an impotent lawmaker so you must be a diseased gun owner....your tool is used to destroy innocent people ....by the thousands...many of them children...and you defend and promote the use of this needless tool....can you not sense, feel the disease?? Get some help...if not for God's sake, how about the rest of us....as you proceed to wherever you go to get that help...try not to shoot yourself in the foot....

I think I gave my disease to my sons. My children want to shoot guns tomorrow at paper and METAL targets. We might even shoot some clay pigeons. This is after we catch and eat several pounds of catfish. My 12 year old especially like to shoot my semiautomatic pistols. What will I do?

Before you go calling me "diseased", what are your qualifications for doing so? I'm a veteran of the US military. I have been instructed on the use and maintenance of military weaponry. I have passed dozens of background checks for dozens of federal agencies and the state of Texas, submitted fingerprints, taken numerous drug tests, attended 10 hours of training that included the study of use of force laws, places where possession of a handgun is legal, and proficiency with a handgun. I have carried a gun daily for years and nobody has ever seen my gun unless I am at the range. I obey the law, give to charity and help people in need. Your accusations are ridiculous and unfounded.

It's a free country and you can say whatever you want, but I don't appreciate you accusing me of being diseased and attacking my manhood. I agree that people like you shouldn't own a gun. Don't assume that I am like you.

Ted Kennedy's car? I know nothing of your loyalty or sensibilities beyond references to guns that kill children as a 'tool'. Perhaps brothers of yours have never been murdered by lunatics wielding a 'tool'. I would guess that your mother never had to grieve for any of her sons because of the senseless misuse of a 'tool'. Your gun is innocent of causing a death and that makes you a better citizen than Ted Kennedy because his car was involved in an accident and a young woman died....? Significantly decrease the number of tools available to lunatics and you significantly reduce the numbers of innocent children who die because of the misuse of that tool....how can anyone with an ounce of common sense argue with that? Common sense? Ted Kennedy's car...two murdered brothers...neither of them hit by a car....common sense...again, how can you argue when someone states the obvious....Significantly decrease the number of tools available to lunatics and you significantly reduce the numbers of innocent children who die because of the misuse of that tool.

Can you sense that I am angry? You are likely a decent and upstanding man. Probably a good father and husband! I want to lionize you, extoll your virtues to everyone I meet! But, your insistence upon inordinately loving guns when deranged people continue to lay in wait and from a distance, pick off unaware children and teachers with rifles...as if they are 'clay pigeons' creates a roiling bile within that causes the justified questioning of sanity and manhood of every lover of guns in the country....if someone asked you...simply...'do you love guns'...how would you answer? Guns killed three young people in Santa Barbara two days ago. You'll say, 'guns didn't kill those people...a lunatic killed those people'...but, had that lunatic not been able to get his hands 'easily' on the weapons and ammunition he used to kill...they would likely be alive today..checking in with mom, spending the holiday weekend with friends, studying for an upcoming test....their parents would not be grieving, the children they potentially would have would still be in their future...their friends would not spend the next few months fearing that some lunatic might pull up in a BMW and shoot them....so, I apologize for questioning your manhood and calling you diseased...over the top...but, I am angry...and if one of my children were to be killed because someone loved a gun....here, in the state that I live in a policeman went with two of his children to a convenience store....left the two kids in the car while he went in to buy something ..gone five minutes....one of the children found a gun under one of the seats and innocently shot and killed his sister...every gun owner in the country will say...'that would never happen to me and my children...I am a responsible gun owner..." and I say, as a first step, take all handguns away from and destroy them...and watch the death rate plummet....and then our children, your children, the children of parents in Santa Barbara....will be safer....simple common sense....I have apologized for saying you have a disease, also for negatively referencing your manhood...we do have a disease in this country and it's infectious poison is killing our children....it can be stopped...and impotent politicians are guilty...58,000 guns confiscated in Mexico (a couple of years ago) were traced back to the U.S....all of them used in Mexican crimes....common sense....you, a clear thinking, respected father and husband.....need to change sides....

a trained professional, a cop, was so stupid as to leave a gun laying around? Unsecured? BS, he can live with his stupid mistake, it is NOT my fault, nor anyone else's fault but his own. The fact that he's a cop, compounds the crime of murdering his own children. And again, a Lib holds everyone else responsible for the actions of one stupid cop.........That's like the cop who "accidently" shot his wife during a firearms safety course...............

Clem - Where do I start? First, I don't love guns. A gun is a tool. Mine are used for self defense, a little hunting, and training with them is recreation. My guns stay in MY control in my house. I have 2 adult sons, but it's my house and my rules. You can spend your life being afraid of an inanimate object because criminals misuse it, but guns don't kill people. Somebody has to pull the trigger or be negligent in leaving a gun accessible to children. I have no problem in holding these people accountable.

Gun ownership is illegal in Mexico, yet violence is far worse in Mexico than America. By definition, every civilian with a gun in Mexico is a criminal. Their country is full of corruption and overrun by the cartels, who are fighting with the government for control of the country. The people are fleeing that festering boil of a nation to avoid being slaughtered and provide for their families. Why can't they protect themselves in their own country? That's right. Only the criminals have guns. There is still gun violence in England, and yet now they are on to banning pointy knives.

Guns don't equal freedom, but they are a tool used to secure it. Not only will they keep criminals honest as a deterant to crime, they will keep governments honest. The Japanese decided to not invade us during WW2. They expected a loaded gun to be behind every blade of grass if they invaded the US. How many American lives were saved by American gun ownership? We have many rights that are not recognized in most of the world. Guns in the hands of honest hardworking citizens help protect these rights. Your irrational fear of an inanimate object is silly. Someone could kill you just as dead with a knife, a can of gasoline, a car, or a baseball bat. Are you ready to outlaw all of those?

Ahhhh ...You walk on water....I get it...you've never made a mistake! Your empathy (lack thereof) for this family is overwhelming. Forget the idiot father...what about his wife, the young boy who killed his sister, the dead sister...now, I am back to that disease thing...your love of guns has robbed you of your humanity...you point your finger at the police officer father...yes, he was irresponsible and he's being prosecuted (I believe, I'll check on it) but, the problem is not the human being who made a mistake....the problem is the availability of the weapon...that the police officer father was carrying in the car (admittedly, irresponsibly) when our lawmakers should have made it a crime to be carrying....should make it a crime for the instrument of death to exist...however, your bias created by your love of guns....makes all of this extraneous verbiage...you don't get it and you never will....as I believe ....children live....as you believe...children die...not to speak of adults, mothers, grandmothers... No, it isn't your fault that his daughter died at the hands of his son....it is his fault. He would be the first to agree with you....that won't bring his child back....and he, and others, point out that, after considering this tragic event, most important to you ...was to bring to the attention of anyone reading this exchange...that it wasn't YOUR fault...does your innocence correct his mistake.....one more thing...where is your empathy do you feel anything beyond your value of your own life, do you feel anything beyond your love of your own family, do you feel anything beyond your life, your family....and your love of guns?

Oh, cry me a river...........it was totally his fault, not mine or Texan. Don't try to shift the emotional responsibility to us.
now WTF does that mean?

I could explain it to you but you wouldn't get it....you never will get it....we look around us and believe that others are like we are...that others value life as we do...most of them do...but then there are people like you and the rest of the NRA nuts...and our only hope is leadership...politicians who care enough to do the right thing...I'm done. Embrace your gun......

Your self righteousness oozes from your posts. Empathy is feeling combined with intelligence. In your case, it is feeling without intelligent thought.
