My beliefs are as follows: On fiscal and economic issues, I am very far right - to the right of, for instance, Ron Paul. With the exception of being pro-life and opposing gun control, I typically side with the Democrats on social issues. I believe very strongly in civil liberties and personal freedoms; civil rights; the legalization of same sex marriage (very important to me); the separation of church and state (very important to me); free and open immigration (very important to me); opposition to capital punishment; the legalization of victimless crimes; torture; and right to die. I support as much defense spending as possible.

I therefore consider myself to be a libertarian. There is no party registration in my state, but I tell people that I'm a Republican. I have never voted for a Democrat before and hitherto have thought it unthinkable, largely because the economic issues seem to be the most important to me and because socialists bother me more than social conservatives. However, recently I have been thinking that the matters of immigration, same sex marriage, and the separation of church and state are very important to me - perhaps important enough for me to rethink for whom I will be voting in November.

What do you think? Would guaranteeing that a bigot not be in the White House be enough justification for me to vote for Obama, given my views on other issues?
