Pictured below is the firearm used. Looks like a field expedient shotgun.
Pipe, powder, shot, wires and an electric firing pin secured by ducttape and screws to a block of wood.

Why didn't the Japanese gun control laws prevent this?

How will American gun control laws prevent this?

The Japanese race is very mentally and behaviorally disciplined.

Take a look at the rape rates in Japan. They are also nearly non-existent.

Don't be so quick to believe the media or let them do your thinking for you.

From what I am reading, the young man who committed the assassination had some reason to be angry at the former prime minister (even though his actions were not justified). The prime minister had previously received political support from and offered public praise to a religious cult (which was based in South Korea but was also operating in Japan) that had gotten the young man's mother to give them all her money and left their family destitute. It was really the cult he was angry at, but the prime minister was viewed as somewhat complicit. I don't think the young man was thinking entirely clearly. He was mostly angry that his mother had been taken advantage of and the cult had ruined their lives. It just so happened that the prime minister was the one he lashed out against, even though the prime minister was mostly not the one directly responsible.

This does happen in Japan. Groups that do questionable things ingratiate themselves with politicians and then are permitted to continue to exist and operate.

Leftists are dumb as a bucket of rocks for thinking the reason Europe and Japan have such a low murder rate is because they don't have guns.
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and chalk it up to naivety.
Yet it's so ironic that those who embrace globalism are so ignorant of what actually goes on in other parts of the globe.
