    ... "I" think, anyway.

    1) Both Donald Trump and President Biden are two damn old to govern effectively.

    2) Neither can lead ALL Americans. For whatever reason floats your boat these men divide Americans and have no hope or, maybe, desire to unite U.S.

    3) Given that, in every election since 2016 EVERY time Americans get a chance to vote for anything to do with Trump, they vote against or vote it down.

    4) Which in spite of the "polls" that (#3) could (and IMHO should) equate to Donald Trump losing the nomination. Which (IMHO) would be a good thing.

That's it. This morning over coffee while catching up on world news my wife said something that spawned that train of thought.

Then I said, the Country needs a leader that CAN lead ALL Americans. We can't survive many more years of this current divisiveness. (And here's the kicker) I said, "hell I would vote for Nikky Haley if she stated talking like a leader for ALL America". My wife spit coffee and almost fell out of her chair, but then said, "you should if that's how you feel". I'm dead serious we need to become the UNITED States, before we have nothing left to unite.

Well, as long as for-profit media make big bucks by selling the divisive agenda, no unifying candidate will have a chance.

You may be right. But for the sake of These United States, I hope not.

You won’t become United whilst a section of your society is blaming the other for every imagined ill in the world. <Mod Edit>

I can guarantee one thing - he definitely would restrict guns. He is talking like a fascist and they do not like armed citizens

Great post! One thing, WE THE PEOPLE don't need a president to unite, they come and go! We just need to find common ground and unite with one another!

However it happens. But have President's that divide Americans, either because like tRaitor tRump purposely, or as in President Biden's case because of his perceived faults, Americans need a leader that can bring us together.

I've said before, neither trump or biden will be on the 2024 ballot.
    Wait and see.
    I'd vote for Nikki Haley.
Be nice to vote FOR a candidate for once.

Expecting (or hoping) for a presidential candidate to 'unite" Americans is extremely foolish.

Why, we've had them before; several of them. I didn't say that was the only thing that could possibly untie America, but I do believe having a leader that the majority of Americans unite behind, for a change, would be wonderful.

Ironic you accuse Trump of traitorism while Biden is kissing Xi's ass like a moon struck teenager.

You're reading it to make a point not to understand my point of view.

Reading your post from my point of view is you're being divisive. We have had many presidents that were fine men and great leaders. I see no reason we couldn't find someone with charisma to lead Americans.

Sitting around wringing our hands waiting for that person, isn't ALL we can do. But in the past Americans have always looked to the President to lead us.

    Washington
    Jefferson
    Madison
    Lincoln
    T. Roosevelt
    F. Roosevelt
    Eisenhower
    Kennedy
    Reagan
    Clinton

    We're over due.

The right leader, right now; could make a huge difference.

I didn't see the Biden/Xi summit that way. But you've made my point, a majority of America is not predisposed to unite behind either man.

The main problem is the people who think politics is based on likes or clicks on social media, do not understand the issues and react emotionally, too damn impatient, a complete lack of ignorance about how our government actually works, do not want to discuss policy, do not accept results from elections, and the list goes on. What you are explaining are the symptoms of a much deeper, larger issue within our population. It is not about age or leading, it is about ignorance on a very grand scale.

You ignore the obvious. Half those presidents you listed were widely detested while in office.
