OK, you continue to use the word you, so I'm assuming this was directed at me.

1st off, you clearly don't know what you're talking about if you're suggesting that I personally call out lies on one station and intentionally ignore others.

2nd, I may not fit so neatly on your left/right scale so don't go lumping me in with one side or the other, especially not based off what I wrote in this topic.

Beyond that, I agree with CaptainAngryPants. If you know of some lies from CNN, MSNBC, New York Times, etc. which you feel need to be known, then you should be calling them out yourself. Otherwise, if you berate others for not creating topics calling out those lies while continuing to keep your own mouth shut about them, then that makes you the hypocrite.

So, that said, can we agree that keeping one's mouth shut when one knows that something is a lie is not the way to go?

Yeah, I haven't complained about any media. I have always assumed that all media lies, or distorts.

Further, many of those "lies" are actually not really lies. Everyone has a world view, and that world view effects how they see evidence. Two people can look at the exact same evidence, and come to completely different conclusions, that are entirely opposed to each other, and yet each one is 'true' from their own perspective.

For example, years back, there was a story about "How Ohio was losing money!".

I was expecting so sort of corruption, or private contractor for the state taking millions to make 15 feet of road way.

Instead, the story was that our food stamp program didn't have enough people enrolled, and because enrollment was too low, we didn't qualify for the matching Federal funds.

Was that a lie? Not exactly. It was true that if we had more people enrolled, we could have the Federal government give us more matching funds. But from a strictly Ohio Budget perspective, having fewer enrollees, meant tax payers were saving money.

Depending on perspective, each side is telling the truth. From the State of Ohio getting money perspective, we were losing money. From the Ohio Tax Payers perspective, we were saving money.

So you will likely never see me start a thread on "(insert media here) Liars (Part One Hundred Thousands and Five)", because first, it's a waste of time. Second, I would have to outline lies by every single media outlet, in order to avoid being a hypocrite. Third, the people on the left wouldn't care anyway. Fourth, perspective changes between individuals. Something that to me is a clear lie, to others would be true, and vice versa.

And lastly, everyone knows that the vast majority of American voters are not going to be reading a thread on why (whoever) lied on the media. I could dedicated my life to pointing out flaws in the media, and it will never make even the slightest bit of difference, to the vary day I die. Just a fact. Most people are busy living their lives. They are not going to bother to learn who is lying, or change their views based on lies being pointed out.

True, however we are in agreement right, that there are some things which cannot be chalked up to differences of perspective?

A lie is defined as someone knowingly making a false statement, so if
    a) it can be shown without a doubt that a statement is false, and
    b) the person making the statement knew it was false at the time of making it
then there can be no arguing as to whether or not that was a lie.

So when Nixon says he doesn't know anything about the W.g. shenanigans, or Clinton tries to say he didn't sleep with M.L.,
when understand that these are lies.

    That's ridiculous.

...And that's sort of my point. When you say that one must either keep their mouth shut, or call out every single lie ever,
you're being ridiculous and unreasonable. Each of us only has so much time to spend posting on forums (some of us less than others) but at the same time, to remain silent about things you know are lies simply because you don't have the ability to call out all lies and don't want to be thought a hypocrite is silly and a mindset which if adopted by more would lead to mass ignorance via the perpetual propagation of disinformation.
    ...
    ...

    ...
    So how about this?

    We split the work?
You let those libs continue to call out all the lies at Fox News,
while you and a few others split up the work of calling out all the lies coming from other stations to maintain the balance?

...meanwhile, I'll sit over here and attempt to inject some logic and reason into the whole equation.

Well...At least Fox cares about We The People. MSNBC virtually ignores US and just spouts whichever lie that supports their radical leftist agenda.

I have been on political forums since 1999. For 15 years, I've seen posts about media lies.

In that 15 year time span, I can not count even one instances, where someone informed of a media lie, has ever changed their views or opinions, on anything.

For decades the major news outlets spewed constant lies, and the right-wing conservatives called them out on it, and the left flat out didn't care.

The difference between Nixon and Clinton was that people really didn't know if Nixon was lying, until the investigations proved it. EVERYONE knew Clinton was lying, and they didn't care that he obstructed justice, witness tampered, hid evidence, planned out smear campaigns, all while taking money from known drug dealers, and Chinese Military Front companies.

They knew it. I had many tell me they knew he was lying, and they didn't care. They supported him, and voted for him, even though he was lying constantly and everyone knew it completely.

The problem now is, now that the right-wing side has their own media channel, they don't care that Fox lies. And why should they? They spent decades pointing out the left-wing lies, and no one gave a crap, and now the screams and squeals from the left about Fox lies, is falling on deaf ears.

The left wing started this pattern, and now the right wing is completing it.

    So how about this.....
I'll let those libs continue to call out all the lies at Fox News.... and I'll just mock and ridicule them, because no one care anymore. The right wing has learned from their left wing teachers, how to handle calls of media lies. They ignore them.

You watch, people will defend Fox News to the death, and never give crap what anyone thinks. You will never convince anyone, anywhere of anything, screaming about Fox lying. Go right ahead. Waste your time.

This is a good example of the sort of logic FOX News viewers find so compelling. It's so much easier to make decisions when your whole world is black and white.

This is a good example of what logic MSNBC viewers find so compelling. It's so much easier to make decisions when your whole world is prejudice and arrogant.

I don't have cable, or even own a TV CaptainJudgemental.

Yet you seem to have strong opinions about FOX News. I wonder why that is?

Here's the fundamental difference between the two: You can fact check MSNBC and find very few errors in their reporting. FOX News on the other hand tells numerous lies on a daily basis....also easily fact checked.

No I don't. I just like ticking off leftists. It's fun to what morons squealing like the pathetic pigs they are. After years of ignoring and support lies spewed by the mainstream media, and support known liars for decades, I love it! I love the reversal, and now they yell and weep and moan about Fox News. I love that every other post, they rant and wail about Fox. I love it! I love watching you people squirm. It's fun for me. I enjoy it. Couldn't care less what Fox says, as long as leftards are ticked off about. Watching judgemental pricks getting lies smacked in their faces, makes me happy.

Go scream little leftards! Go wail and moan! No one will care! No one gives a crap what you say! Yell and b*tch! I'll just laugh and mock you all! I *LOVE* it.

FOX News makes no such distinctions, but basically everything after 5PM is all talk.

It's mostly all talk all the time, but Hannity and O'Reilly are on after five.

Oh I'm sorry. Somehow I must have given you the impression that your opinion of what I sound like, matters at all to me. Allow me to make this spelled out as clear as a possibly can. Your opinion of what I sound like, matter less to me, and has less value to me, than the lint in my clothes drier. If that ever changes, I will let you know! Until then... assume otherwise.

Sounds more like something Bill O'Reilly would have said.
