George Lucas is an idiot....he (*)(*)(*)(*)ed up his own franchise! You just can't top that. And he had the freedom to do so.

 

Lucas told the truth about Russian filmmakers not being able to criticize their government.

 

And yet they had a lot more freedom than the US.

 

Apparently nuance is lost in translation.

Lucas was talking about the fact that in Hollywood, in order to make a movie, it has to "make money". In the Soviet union the industry operated in a completely different fashion.

If you actually believe that the Soviet film industry had more freedom to "do whatever they want" except of course "criticize the government" or present alternative narratives to "official" soviet history, then you have most definitely drunk the koolaid.

the Soviet Union collapsed for a reason. It was rotten from the inside.
