Can someone on the right please explain how this is being allowed to continue, and how he is allowed to actually be seated and vote even after he admitted to lying not only about his qualifications, but lying during his campaign. Seriously, can someone on the right give me ANY justification as to why he is allowed to vote
This is not complicated. This is about power. We need every Republican representative and cannot afford to lose even one. If we had an overwhelming majority, then it would be ok to remove him. Unfortunately the country needs him and the sweet sweet gridlock he represents. This is a no-brainer. Might makes right is the iron law of politics. If Democrats lack the power to remove him, he stays.
The country needs a known and self-confessed liar in Congress? Really? I think you wanted to say the power hungry GOPers needs him in Congress. But, thanks for admitting that the GOP has abandoned ANY modicum of ethics. The question is, what will he lie about next? When will he become a liability for the GOP? The question is not if but when.
You basically just said Republicans have no ethics or values and only care about power. Party over country If this was a Democrat with a one seat advantage I would be calling for his removal and investigation — but I guess that is what separates the parties.
He Stays... Obviously, the Dems lack the Power to remove him... Since, expelling a member requires a 2/3rds Vote...
Well, specifically for the House, we have to wait until Monday to see the rules and whether there will be even an Ethics Committee. As for the Constitution, he seems golden for now. Lots of LE after him now though.
I’m not defending this guy’s lies, he never should have done it. The second thing is all politicians lie and we seem to have grown accustomed to it, but this guy went over the top. The big question is did his lies cause him to win the election? Who knows? What I’d like to see is a rule put in place where any politician who lies to the public after s/he had taken office is disciplined and possibly removed from office depending on the lie. As for what HockeyDad said, these days politics is a full contact sport with hardly any rules. The left is embracing open borders for votes but only for certain immigrants and not others because they don’t vote the way the left wants them to, and that’s just one example of many. On the flip side, we have this clown who lied about his mother’s death. In the end is that a deal breaker? That would be up to the people he represents and voted for him, all we can do is talk about him and not much more.
On what grounds would he be expelled? If one liar is expelled then shouldn’t all liars be expelled? If yes, then that’s all congress would be doing.
Righhtt..... so the Democrats kick a Democrat senator out for lying and he gets replaced by a Republican. With that slim Senate majority, the Republican President proceeds to install 4 very conservative activist Justices under the age 40. Those justices proceed to strip much of the existing civil rights legislation as unconstitutional..... race, homosexuality and transgenderism are no longer protected classes. Tell me what the removal of that lying Democrat senator did for you? Is a 40 year reversal of the civil rights you support worth that? In any event, Pocahontas lied about her ethnicity and she is still there. Biden lied about his education and he is still there. Apparently not all Democrats share your moral code.
He won. It’s between him and the voters. They all lie. Sure his were more egregious than most, but where do you draw the line?
My position... Oppo Research FAILED... Outside of that, barring extraordinary developments, I expect him to serve ONE Term and be ousted in the '24 Election...
Well, there are the Project Veritas videos and there’s that pathway to citizenship the left always talks about. Per the DNC, Latinx is the future of their party.
Apparently, many politicians have a vestige of moral fibre. Santos has been confined to the lunatic fringe, pending criminal investigations. Santos does not appear to have received a warm welcome from his GOP colleagues. During the numerous speaker votes, he was often seen sitting by himself, though on at least one occasion he was photographed chatting with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga. The constituents Santos duped have no mechanism for expeditiously invalidating him.
I don't see any problem - if people who voted for him don't care that he was lying to them, why other people should care?
Would you like a list of the lies told by Biden and Harris both before and after the election? At least Santos didn’t lie about being under sniper fire.
It’s fascinating that you know republicans stand for all of that and you still support them — there is a difference between someone lying about having two degrees vs three degrees or not remembering the percentage of their scholarship is a tad different then them making up an entirely new persona. As to Warren, she said she had Indian ancestry. But as you have already said, you don’t care what they have done to get ahead as long as it results in more political power.
The project veritas that is being sued for defamation and has already lost several suits and is know for using deceptive tactics to illicit the answers they want. You don’t say. I don’t care what an activist said, I asked for evidence that it is occurring
Biden has lied about more than that. According to CNN, some of his lies in 2021 include: 1. Claiming he drove 18 wheelers 2. Claiming he was arrested in a civil rights protest 3. Claiming he had a conversation with a dead Amtrak conductor 4. Claiming he had traveled 17,000 miles with Xi Jinping. 5. Claiming he visited Pittsburg's Tree Of Life synagogue after the massacre. They go on to list a dozen more lies that Biden told in 2021. This from an outlet that is fully in bed with the Democrats and for a single year of Biden's presidency. https://www.cnn.com/2022/01/20/politics/fact-check-biden-false-claims-first-year-2021/index.html Honestly, if a politicians lips are moving, there is a 50-50 chance that lies are coming out. It would be very difficult for me to name a single politician from either party that I didn't believe was a liar. It seems to be a requirement for the job. Truth tellers tend not to get elected. In any event I don't see much difference between Biden's lies and the congress critter's lies. I am pretty sure that you will see a difference and that the difference lets Biden off the hook somehow.
Ah the deflection to Biden with some Hillary whataboutism thrown in for good measure. Does this mean you’re done with the crocodile tears when Trump is brought up?
Same reason Elizabeth warren is allowed to hold her office after lying about being native American. same reason Biden is allowed to hold his office after lying about student loan forgiveness. Why is lying only a problem when someone on the right does it?
It isn't a deflection it is precedent. if lies are intolerable, why do you tolerate them only from one side of politics? It is pointing out hypocrisy a rule for thee but not for me.
