Raskin and Schiff came out on different sides of this issue and I respect both of their opinions. I side with Schiff on this one, expel his corrupt arse.

'George Santos now says he isn't ruling out a plea deal after new felony charges'

    Source: UK Independent

Embattled Congressman George Santos sounded far less optimistic about his future during an interview with CNN’s Manu Raju on Sunday.

The congressman, who faces nearly two dozen felony charges, has pleaded not guilty to all of the counts against him. Those counts grew to 23 in total on 10 October, when a superseding indictment was filed against him by the Department of Justice. In his latest indictment, he is accused of stealing identities and making false charges on his own donors’ credit cards. In doing so, he falsely inflated the wealth of his 2022 congressional campaign.

But in past interviews and comments to reporters in the halls of Capitol Hill, the New York Republican has remained defiant and condemned calls for his resignation or ouster as his critics supposedly serving as “judge, jury and executioner”. There was little display of that brashness during his interview with CNN, though he repeated his claim that he would not resign. He did not rule out the possibility of taking a plea deal were it to be offered by the Department of Justice.

“I’m not saying I’m not ruling out ... as of right now, it’s not on the table,” he said. “I’m not exploring any of that right now. Those conversations are yet to be had … right now I’m pretty focused on my defence.” Mr Santos told CNN that he had made “mistakes” in the course of managing his campaign’s finances, while denying that he had made any deliberately false statements. He denied knowingly inflating the wealth of his campaign, and claimed that he had little oversight or knowledge of his campaign’s Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings.

I imagine for you it's only ever party over country when it's Republicans not self-sabotaging.

Democrats have made complete asses out of themselves over the past seven or eight years with these hopes trials and hopes accusations against Donald Trump and Brett kavanaugh. And not holding their own party to the same standard.

So when you say this and you support this sort of thing faking like there's some insurrection and pleasing people in jail for decades over trespassing you are saying party over country. I think you're saying party over humanity.

Nope, I'm not a Republican but then couldn't say I'm a Democrat either. Either side that puts party over country is bad, It's just now the Republicans have gone to the extreme and judging by their speaker choice are unwilling to return to sanity. Maybe after T**** dies or goes to prison.

PS I actually started a thread a while back suggesting that it would be good for America if Liz Cheney ran for president. Not because I like her policies but because she stood up for honesty. Maybe that could spread a little.

She didn't stand up for honest she brought into that wackadoodle January 6th conspiracy nonsense with the evil invasions and overlords and civil wars and whatnot.

It was a protest, Cheney is a party stooge.

This video is what everyone was rational hears when people try to make the claim that a very mild protest was some insurrectionist civil war movement.

The political critics could go on forever, and they do What they DO NOT do is come to the right conclusion or come up with a solution to the problem

There's a reason why Santos survived the motion to expel, and it has to do with the conditions of the ethics system more than cowardice or stupidity.

Congress has the constitutional power to remove any person deemed unfit by a 2/3 vote. They have used that successfully TWICE- in the last 156 years since the civil war.

    That's about to change.
