After the aggression against South Ossetia in August 2008, Georgia has been actively restoring its military potential, widely using help of western states. Georgia significantly exceeded the prewar level of weapons and military equipment. During the last 3 years the US has put Georgia arms, military equipment and ammunition $450 million worth. Patriot, Stinger, Needle-3, Beech, Wasp AAMs, Javelin and Hellfire-2 anti-missile systems, Apache, Iroquois and Chinook helicopters were among the weapons supplied. Estonia has donated Georgia 10 T-72 tanks, 14 BTR-70 armored troop-carriers, 10 Hurricane and 5 Whirlwind multiple rocket launching systems. More than 1,000 sniper rifles and more than half a million rounds of small arms were also supplied by Estonia. Turkey supplied Georgian Armed Forces 150 Ejder APCs, more than 100 Cobra armored vehicles, 40 T-72 tanks (through intermediaries), 5 patrol boats, military equipment $340 million worth. They still can't fight Russia. I have a limited understanding but from what I remember the citizens of South Ossetia are Russian citizens and want to be (being granted citizenship by Russia). You can't fight that. You cannot break peoples will by military force. I have no idea what will happen, but the small state of Georgia cannot take on the Russian military. With any luck, it won't come to that again.
