No, Thatcher did not oppose the reunification of Germany, only that caution need be used, as indeed it by the West German government. It's still not completely fixed, culturally for example in some ares, but the conditions have certainly changed dramatically for the better. A good friend tells you when you are wrong. Our foreign minister said openly while your foreign minister was there, that he cant stand infront his people and justify something he doesnt believe in.

The United States once pulled the French’s ass out of the grease. But we have a significant number of Americans, even within our government, that have the attitude that France forever owes an allegiance to the US for the remainder of their existence. There is no room for France to once feel in compelling manner that the US is wrong. As was the case in Iraq in 2002/3.
