Gerrymandering: Drawing strangely shaped district boundaries to gain political advantages.

There is no end in sight for gerrymandering, but how do you feel about this topic? I personally believe that we should crack down on gerrymandering because it only leads to the manipulation of voters.

I hate it. It is a direct frontal assault on the democratic process.

Gerrymandering is only a problem because of voting districts to begin with. Do away with those, and do away with your first past the post system while you're at it, if you're really interested in making the system more democratic. Use Sweden as a model.

Gerrymandering plays favorites, so, it should end.

My signature line says all I need to about gerrymandering. Gerrymandering is another reason we have so many really far out congressmen from the right and left. They do not have to worry about re-election as the districts are drawn to make sure they can't lose. Most Americans are somewhere in the middle, but with gerrymandering you get the current polarization we have in congress today.

I have always been in favor of a law that states as many counties as possible must be kept intact. In other words if a state has 2 or 3 representatives, then only one county may be divided. then carry that on to the states that have much more. I have more in common regardless of party with all the people that live in my county, not with a line that is drawn to encompass and run 5 counties over just to make sure there is a certain amount of Republicans or Democrats in that district.
