It's looking like this global warming mass hysteria has run it's course and Hollywood can no longer milk millions out if it. We have been told for decades now that catastrophe is right around the corner and it never happens so people are getting bored of the whole thing I guess. All these record cold temperatures probably don't help either. LOL

"Mr. Gore’s sequel to his documentary smash “An Inconvenient Truth” paid the most attention to climate change, of course. The 2006 original scored with audiences and Oscar voters, earning best documentary honors. The sequel snared a fraction of the first film’s tally: $3 million versus $24 million. That’s despite massive media attention, mostly fawning reviews and promotion from eco-conscious stars such as Paul McCartney, Bono and Pharrell Williams."

"Geostorm” promised B-movie thrills with a tale of the Earth’s weather run amok. Audiences typically adore disaster films — the cheesier, the better. So what happened? The movie raked in $33 million from a reported $120 million budget.

“Downsizing,” a rare flop from director Alexander Payne (“About Schmidt”), envisioned a future in which people can shrink themselves to the height of a grapefruit. That fueled some cheeky social commentary and a recurring message about the world’s dwindling resources."

"A Pew Research survey this year found that “the environment” does not rank among the top 10 public policy concerns of most Americans, trailing behind “terrorism,” “the economy,” “education” and “jobs,” among others.

Mr. Haskins said it wasn’t always this way. Hits such as “An Inconvenient Truth” and “The Day After Tomorrow,” the 2004 film that dove directly into climate change fears, touched a nerve. The box office receipts proved it. “Tomorrow” hauled in $186 million despite tepid reviews.

At the time, audiences were genuinely scared about what climate change could mean to the planet, he said. Time passed, though, and many of the frightening predictions made by Mr. Gore and like-minded activists didn’t come to fruition.

“They stopped believing the problem was as serious as what Al Gore was saying,” Mr. Haskins said.

Is it any wonder climate change alarmism isn’t an easy sell at the cineplex"

Documentaries rarely make serious coin at the box office, but the drop was massive

The Trump Administration believes climate change is real and mankind is the cause.

No, really... global warming will kill the earth. Donate to my PayPal and help me stop it.

I should have gotten into the global warming game long ago. Lots of money to be made from lots of gullible people.

Yeah you can say the Earth is going into another ice age (1970s) and when that doesn't happen you can say the opposite will happen in global warming (1990s) and when that doesn't happen you can simply call it climate change (2010s)

    All the while making money

The difference is when it's warm it's climate and when it's cold it's weather. Well if you are a cult member that's the difference anyway.

There's probably a good market for anti racism movies. Racism is not as tangible as the weather being hot or cold, all you have to do is make the claim and the left will believe it.

He dumped the Paris accords because its an idiotic toothless piece of paper. Ask yourself why virtually the entire world signed on to it when they wouldn't sign Kyoto or Copenhagen both of which actually had enforcement mechanisms. The Paris Accords will go down in history as one of the worst things for the environment possible because for the next 13 years governments can do whatever they want and just point to their signature and say that they are working on a plan......honest.

Doesn't understand sarcasm. Like literally believing someone when they say, "I could eat 5 boxes of those cookies, because theyre so good." or "If you smack your sister again, I'll kill you!" or "I was so embarrassed I could die." or "wait one sec". Do you yell at the person pointing and screaming !!!LIAR!!! its been 8.5 seconds!!!

How do some people get through a normal conversation?

It brought us Gorebulbs, the CFL lights which were a health hazard.

If anything, it expedited the ramp up of LED lighting so I can string a ton more Christmas lights so the global warming lies at least made LEDs more affordable

Wouldn't have anything to do with the rise of streaming services such as Netflix would it? The ENTIRE industry had a drop in attendance this year. Why would you pay $15.00 to see a documentary at the box office when it will be on your phone in a month as part of your Netflix?

But you can just continue with your mastibitory celebration if you would like.

I think maybe people are worn out on it

Plus it's weird to freeze your nards off when you get out of a movie about global warming

The US solar industry hires three times the number of Americans that the coal industry hires. Nothing wrong with that.

I think the poll cited in the OP is the obvious answer. Nobody cares anymore. The mass hysteria phase is over.

You're right - the vast majority of people around the globe have accepted the reality that it's physically impossible for human activity NOT to have some impact on our environment. They don't need to be reminded.

We all should be lucky enough to be as good of environmentalists like Leo DiCaprio. A 25,000 foot mansion. 450 foot yacht burning 50 gallons per mile, and travel by private jet. This way we ALL could be doing our part, like him and Al Gore, to save the planet.

The poll shows they don't care. Global warming is at the bottom of the list of concerns. This thing is going away except in the hard core cult members who will never give up.
