I read in the news that a women in Queensland was threatened with arrest for to using a hand held air horn to scare bats away which were attempting to roost in her backyard. The bats are known to carry Hendra virus plus a number of other diseases fatal to humans and other animals (plus they stink!!). This is a perfect example of how green extremists have infiltrated Labor governments. Next they will be saying termites have a right to eat your house and you must not stop them.
Just did a google search and found that this happened last August. It does not say why they were breaking the law 1. Noise 2. Something to do with the bats. The bats may not be a Hendra virus risk unless handled Ref http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/...way-flying-foxes/story-e6freoof-1226108630652 http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/...k-unless-handled/story-e6freoof-1226109436095 Maybe this is what Adultmale read about http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/-/national/12517203/qld-horse-lovers-hose-down-bat-cull-calls/
I remember this story. The region where it occured had a fruit bat / flying fox plague The lady involved was merely trying to chase the bats out of her yard, she was persecuted in "environmental" grounds. Most people nowdays are environmentally aware, although the greens actually live OFF the environment, not for it, it`s a meglomaniacal power trip for them.
It was not on her land, it was on crown property. Torturing animals is a criminal offence - perhaps you disagree. Fruit bats are commonplace in Northern Australia but few people have ever been bitten. Hendra virus has been caught in horses by eating the faeces of fruit bats.
