Western/central Ukraine was not at that time firing weapons into Russia, so all weapons used to fight were killing people in Eastern Ukraine, some killed military personnel but many killed civilians. V. Putin stated that he would move forces into E. Ukraine to protect the population and he has had to evacuate Kherson which was deemed too difficult to defend. Both parties in the US vote consistently to send more weapons to Ukraine. Is there anything Kyiv, Donbass, Russia or the US public can do to de-escalate the war? Can anybody do anything? Given both parties are pro-war is a gridlock the best possibility?
