Because of Heller, McDonald, Bruen, and Caetano. Gun rights advocates have a lot to look forward to. Heller forever changed the discussion surrounding gun rights, McDonald made it apply to the states, Bruen ended intermediate scrutiny, and Caetano established a base idea of what “common use” is. Because of these case I firmly believe in the next year or two all semi automatic rifle bans in the fifty states will be overturned. All magazine bans will be overturned. And every state will have to be a shall issue state for the right to carry arms. What are your current thoughts on the legal landscape surrounding the second amendment? How do you see Bonita playing out? Opinions on the Washington gun laws being temporarily enjoined?
We already have "Constitutional Carry", no limit on owning semi-auto firearms and no limit on magazine capacity. TEXAS! WHERE FREEDOM LIVES!
If you're planning to move to New York you can look forward to: "You are still required to have a license to possess a pistol or revolver. Nothing in the recent United States Supreme Court decision changes this fact..... The new requirements to obtain a concealed carry license are: proof of completion of a firearms safety training course; four character references; a list of former and current social media accounts for the last three years; disclosure of applicant’s spouse or domestic partner, any other adults residing in the applicant’s home, including any adult children of the applicant, and an in-person interview of the applicant with the licensing officer/designee." https://gunsafety.ny.gov/frequently-asked-questions-new-concealed-carry-law
All that for a right spelled out in the Bill of Rights and we can't even ask for the common sense requirement of an ID in order to vote! THANK YOU GOD FOR GUIDING ME TO A RETIREMENT IN TEXAS WHERE THERE IS NO SUCH LIBERAL NONSENSE! TEXAS! WHERE FREEDOM LIVES!
the supreme court needs to school the scumbags in NY about what the second amendment means and politicians who continue to pass such laws need to be amendable to constitutional rights tort litigation under 42 USC 1983
For now. Unless the state of NY can demonstrate that its license requirement is consistent with this Nation’s historical tradition of firearm regulation. See, only if a firearm regulation is consistent with this Nation’s historical tradition may a court conclude that the individual’s conduct falls outside the Second Amendment’s “unqualified command.”
Rhode Island is trying to out do NY and California. They want to make it a felony to continue to keep normal capacity magazines that were legally bought and owned-until recently
What is a gun right's activist? Gun's don't have rights, but some people do act like their guns are sentient beings.
Only those who claim firearms cause, or are responsible for, firearms-related violence believe firearms have sentience.
can anyone with a brain tell me how those ridiculous requirements do anything other than harass lawful people?
I believe it went like this-1) a desire to pander-such as FDR using the gangsters created by government prohibition and their gang wars. 2) an attempt to stave off claims that the lefties were soft on crime and were doing nothing about violent street crime and THEN-when conservatives attacked the first two reasons-to punish pro gun advocates and their followers for criticizing the pandering and the faux crime control nonsense
Give current jurisprudence from the USSC, why do you believe these requirements to obtain a license to own a gun do not violate the constitution?
Total violation of the Constitutions 2d Amendment. We have NONE of that illegal silliness in Texas! TEXAS! WHERE FREEDOM LIVES!
I see a lot of posts that indicate that the poster believes that "future, hopeful jurisprudence" seems to have more weight than current jurisprudence.
Literally all conventional arms should be legal to manufacture, buy, sell, transfer, import, and modify without any license or knowledge of the state.
