Many years ago there was a best selling book titled "All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten"

Here is a lesson I learned in kindergarten 50+ years ago.

If someone uses a toy to hurt someone else, NO ONE gets to play with the toy.

It's amazing how we, as a society, still have not learned that lesson.

 

That is an excellent way to look at this spate of "casual" shootings.

 

Apart from praying, there is nothing we can do.

It is the price of freedom that innocent Americans are being slaughtered with assault rifles.

 

Unfortunately the life is not as simple as kindergarten - guns kill, cars kill, baseball bats kill, dogs kill, bicycles kill and this is the short list. So with what toys we are allowed to play?

 

Sounds like totalitarianism to me. I'm not a fan of being treated like a kindergartner. I'm more of a fan of personal responsibility rather than some ridiculous mass punishment.
People harm people with computers all the time, driving many to suicide. Ban computers. People run people over in cars on purpose. Ban cars. People get stabbed to death all the time. Ban knives.

Banning is not the answer. Healing society is. Getting rid of guns will not do that, and will in fact move away from that, creating more of an "us against them" argument that further divides people and disrupts healing.

 

I'm not a fan of being treated like a kindergartner either...but until we can stop ACTING like kindergarteners....

Wrong! Majority of people who purchase guns buy it not to kill/harm people, it is a solid facts. I didn't see statistics what percent of legally purchased arms are used to kill/harm people.
For majority of people it is just a hobby or getting a sense of security, the same hobby as fast cars or small airplane.
Yes, there should be better regulation who can and who cannot purchase guns, some license similar to a car driving license.

WE, is the operable word. Crazy people are abundant in our society. If one of them does something ... well, crazy ... in South Florida do we penalize a mentally healthy person in North Washington State?

Generalizations may work in a kindergarten class room but These United States are not a kindergarten class room but, our Constitution applies everywhere. Firearms are not "toys", penalizing ALL gun owners will not stop violence and doing unconstitutional stupid ****, is unconstitutional no matter what side of the argument you are on.

 

Or, we can start being realistic and directing our response to the underlying issues.

There have been 6 people murdered in Austin Texas in just 10 days. More than a 1/3 of them, a gun wasn't the weapon. None of them indicate the type if gun.

All this anger about "assault style" weapons is just silly when the facts are presented.

 

In a country of 350 million people across a great geographic area, a few anecdotes seems ridiculous to claim "we" stop doing something and then using the same anecdotes to push for impacts nationwide.

And I should hope it is the leading cause of death in people aged 1-19, or else we have some pretty damn unhealthy children. Would it make you happier if overdoses or cancer were killing them faster?

Tell the DNC to put elimination of the 2nd Amendment on their platform. Tell Joe Biden and all Democrat candidates to run on a platform of eliminating the 2nd Amendment. Also, you can stop using the term assault rifles and start using the more honest term assualt weapons. Because we certainly do not want to allow people to have assault weapons.

One other thing we certainly do not want to do. is sentence this guy to death when he is caught and publicly execute him in an electric chair. Cause he price of freedom is decades to execute someone, and big bucks for taxpayer funded lawyers.

 

Isn't everyone who buys a gun as self defense, doing so with the intent to kill a human? Should a rare occurrence come up where it needs to be used?

What % of people buy a gun for said self defense?
What % of people buy a gun for hunting?
For the pleasure of destroying inanimate objects?
