But of course that's a ridiculous claim without knowing how many people own firearms, carry knives, or looking at the real metrics of crime - population density and poverty. In the US, population density is highly correlated to homicide and crime in general. I'm going to guess its the same in the UK.

I voted for option 1 I don't give a damn about the second amendment. Guns are so widespread that we aren't going to be rid of them for the foreseeable future, even if we stop production somehow. Also, I wouldn't feel safe in a society where guns are only owned by police and soldiers.

In the opinion of the Founders of the nation, the militia is all men capable of bearing arms. Not the army, National Guard, etc., but every living person.
