Hackers Claim to Have Romney's Tax Returns

An anonymous individual or group is alleging that they have gained "all available 1040 tax forms" of GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney by accessing computers in the Franklin office of the professional services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers.
An anonymous posting on a file sharing website states that PwC has been hacked. This same website has been used by hackers who have claimed to have infiltrated computers from companies like Apple in the past.
An excerpt from one message states:
"Romney's 1040 tax returns were taken from the PWC office 8/25/2012 by gaining access to the third floor via a gentleman working on the 3rd floor of the building. Once on the 3rd floor, the team moved down the stairs to the 2nd floor and setup shop in an empty office room. During the night, suite 260 was entered, and all available 1040 tax forms for Romney were copied. A package was sent to the PWC on suite 260 with a flash drive containing a copy of the 1040 files, plus copies were sent to the Democratic office in the county and copies were sent to the GOP office in the county at the beginning of the week also containing flash drives with copies of Romney's tax returns before 2010. A scanned signature image for Mitt Romney from the 1040 forms were scanned and included with the packages, taken from earlier 1040 tax forms gathered and stored on the flash drives.
The group will release all available files to the public on the 28 of September, 2012."

Don't love the source but it's all I've got right now.

I still think it's a silly witch hunt and I'm not going to endorse illegal activity. The best thing that I think will come of this when they decide to release them will be the left finally shutting up about it.

 

This is just as likely another ruse to see if they can get Romney to release information. What underhanded bullsh!t.

Like most other wealthy people and politicians? It's not illegal to park your money overseas. GE and Jeffery Immelt have been doing it for years. BTW. People don't hide money in the Caymans. Part of their charter requires them to divulge assets to the IRS.

 

Can they get Obama's school transcripts too? I want to know his grades when he was a burned out cokehead.

 

Ive been following this. Its a scam. The guys are claiming to be in nigeria, and they are demanding one million dollars in bit coins not to "release" (or a million to release them). whichever side gives them a million first they will go with.

the encryption are all wrong for this type of thing, and the "hackers" have not given any actual evidence of having the returns.

 

This will not "fool" Romney into releasing anything. If PWC was infiltrated, they know it and they will inform Romney of the action. If they did this act, wow.... that is a huge felony.

I don't think Romney's tax returns have anything to do with Barack Obama's complete failure as a leader.

First:

This would devastate PriceWaterhouseCooper's. This is not something a single one of their clients wishes to hear. I believe it is highly unlikely that PWC's security has been breached in this manner; they simply have too much to lose to have allowed such access in such a cavalier manner. These files are encrypted; it's not accessible.

Second:

I do not believe it is accidental that this 'information' is not being released instantly. Why would they provide 'until the 28th' to get a reaction? No: bullsh!t. Far more likely that there is no information; they're hoping that Romney simply releases his own in advance.

Don't be gullible, people. This is just more desperation from the party of desperation, and is just another example of how our collective morality is being dragged down further into the mud.

Obama and Biden only gave 1-2% to charity back when they didn't have the spotlight on them. Romney's been giving double digit percentages for years.
