COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The leader of a nonprofit representing the Haitian community invoked a private-citizen right to file charges Tuesday against former President Donald Trump and his running mate, JD Vance, over the chaos and threats experienced by Springfield, Ohio, since Trump first spread false claims about legal immigrants there during a presidential debate.

The Haitian Bridge Alliance made the move after inaction by the local prosecutor, said their attorney, Subodh Chandra of the Cleveland-based Chandra Law Firm.

Looks like the Haitian migrants don't think too kindly of the lies of trump and vance.

Some in PF have called their comments mere jokes.
But the migrants and the community where schools had to be evacuated have a different take on those lies.

There was no violence. Hence, no incitement of violence. The bomb threats were hoaxes that were emailed from foreign countries. There's no here, here.

Good. Let's see where the court case goes. What Trump and Vance have done is dispicable.

Is a fake bomb threat legal? Why not if it involves no violence?

Trump isn't being charged with making a bomb threat.

Yes, the Left certainly holds a high opinion of Free Speech.

What did Trump "do" exactly? Say they "ate cats and dogs" during the Presidential debate?

An allegation that might not even be entirely without evidence.

He essentially yelled fire in a crowded theatre. But I don’t think he’s gonna be found liable, even though he is

So far, it's entirely without evidence.
    Even you couldn't produce evidence.

Lying is not without consequences. Ask Fox lies about that and their $787M lawsuit charge. And the firing of one of their biggest lying proponents.

While it's not criminal. Liars can be held libel if actions have been taken because of lies.
    .
So far, luckily, no one has been injured or killed.
But schools had to be evacuated due to bomb threats. Probably MAGA types threatening bombing.

The Left doesn't seem to understand the very slippery slope, when government officials are put in charge of deciding what "truth" is in politics.

He was also recently caught openly bribing voters with cash

No one cares. Moderates know he is a criminal and magas thinks he is a king.

If that were really true, then Trump would be able to sue the media for the attempted assassination attempt.

I think they do quite well.
That's why the current R candidate lost as the incumbent 4 yrs ago.

I think you have it backwards of the lying and slippery slope. Most MAGA has no clue trump lies.
They likely don't even believe fox lies, lied.

Won't spreading lies about those bomb threats being tied to Trump and MAGA open you up to the same lawsuits?
Another lawsuit against Trump that goes nowhere. It's just so you can keep bringing it up and make it part of your political campaign for several months. Otherwise we would be talking about how bad inflation was under Biden-Harris Administration and policies.

You don't get fined for lying. You pay finanactial damages lies may caused to compensate for those damages. And the shut down of schools is damage to the city and expenses, not some group because they did not like what was said about them.

Not only are these people brought into America under Temporary Protected Status with no apparent gratitude -- they are inserted into our political process and allowed to impede an American democracy and and an American candidate for President with BS lawsuits that I assume are funded by 501c3 money. Cheered on by the left and the usual suspects here.

    Talk about testicular fortitude.

Translation. He paid for someones groceries. Was there a quid pro quid pro quo here? Is Trump a government official? Was there an offer to pay for groceries based on someone's vote. Break it down for me please.

    https://www.findlaw.com/criminal/criminal-charges/bribery.html

The legal definition of bribery is the offer or acceptance of anything of value in exchange for influence on a government official or employee.

    18 U.S. Code § 597 - Expenditures to influence voting

    Whoever makes or offers to make an expenditure to any person, either to vote or withhold his vote, or to vote for or against any candidate;

Capitalism at work. Businesses needed workers and went out and got them.

Closing those businesses and schools create a damage. Hence, the suit.

Stoking bigotry for political purposes creates the chaos that follows Trump. Hence, one of the many reasons he’s unfit for office.

“A group cannot sue someone who makes inflammatory bigoted remarks about a group,” he said. “Jews can’t sue a Nazi for spewing the kind of antisemitism that Nazis spew. Black folks can’t sue the grand dragon of the Ku Klux Klan. That’s not because those kind of statements are good or in some moral sense defensible. It’s because the First Amendment rests on a notion that the government generally should not be in the business of refereeing what is true and what is false, what is right and what is wrong.”

First Amendment aside, it’s going to be hard for Jozef to prove that Trump and Vance are responsible for the bomb threats, Entin said.

“Trump and Vance didn’t do those things,” he said. “Those things happened, other people did them. And for criminal liability you’ve got to show that they actually did something. Not that they’re morally responsible by simply making inflammatory statements that other people maybe followed up on. We might say that the statements that trump and Vance have made are dishonorable, really morally problematic in some ways. But that’s not enough to establishing grounds for convicting them of a crime.”

So SCOTUS have already dismissed a similar lawsuit.
