Hamas has accepted a serious offer. More slaughter is NOT going to help him politically - at home, in the world, or in history of Israel. The economy is slipping. Netanyahu has several other war fronts - Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Hezbollah (which is stronger than Gaza), the Houthis, who attack Israeli shipping, Jordan, - others?

Hamas are hoping to be bailed out from generations of political foolishness and military incompetence. The Israelis are in no mood to oblige. Hamas are now cornered; their end is near.

 

Why the hell wouldn't a cease fire be on ISRAEL'S terms? Hamas is asking for it, not Israel. And Hamas' atrocious actions on 10/7 stopped the ceasefire they already had. This current ceasefire bid didn't include returning any hostages.

If I were in charge of Israel, here is the only offer I would make: We will have a 3 day ceasefire IF, in the next 24 hours we receive every hostage alive and unharmed. During those 3 days, you can do whatever you want. You can regroup, you can use the time to whine to the rest of the world about how mistreated you are, you can have a big street party to celebrate still being alive. But if one rocket is fired into Israel during this time, we go in and finish you.
