I was a NRA member when I was young. In the early 70s they used a number of dirty tricks to kill the Kennedy gun bill.

    I quit.

They got even nastier in the 80s.

Even my wife wants a fire arm and learn how to use a gun. She has never liked one around the house but now she understands.

It's more like "look what people who have no respect for authority or are so sensitive to a diss or have no moral values have done to our inner cities".

Ah yes - the "Saturday Night Special: and "junk guns" nonsense.
Because you believe poor people should be priced out of the right to keep and bear arms.

You cannot present a rational, reasoned, factual, argument for doing so.
    You know this, of course.

Approximately 61% of firearms deaths in the US are suicide.

Once a felon is released, rights should be restored. If, after serving their sentence, a person can't be trusted to live in society and own a firearm then they should not be released from prison.

As for the mentally deranged; if someone is known to be mentally deranged then they should not be allowed to roam the streets of America. If they are not known to be deranged then that wouldn't show up on a background check.

My guess is that a fugitive from justice is not going to put down on a background check, "hey, I'm a fugitive from justice".

I am somewhat confused by your post.
What is your ultimate goal with regard to firearms?

LIBERAL'S arguments for gun control. You're not going to find many leftists (especially in America) now or historically that opposed gun ownership. The entire legal framework of gun control was established (by Republicans and lobbied for by the NRA) to disarm black socialists.

Nothing here even remotely resembles a rational, reasoned, factual argument for the repeal of the 2nd.
The fact firearms are one of the easiest and most efficient ways for a person to kill another person is -exactly- why our right to own and use them is protected by the 2nd; as such, this fact does not in any way support a repeal of same.

    Feel free to try again.

Actually it was meant to prevent the federal government from disarming the state militias, because of fears of a standing army and has been corrupted since. Now a vestigial nuisance.

Most people accept restrictions to car ownership.
Compulsory registration, insurance, speed limits, licenses, sobriety with removal of your license for non-compliance, age restrictions for use etc etc.
    Guns not so much.
There are comparisons to be made but not in the way gun rights advocates want you to make.

Factually incorrect, rendered null and void by established jurisprudence, and irrelevant to the point made.
But then you cannot respond to the point made, so you must try to argue away from it.
Fact is, you cannot present a sound, rational, reasoned argument for the repeal of the 2nd.

Well yeah - you don't have a right to drive on public roads. The state grants you that privilege, and gets to set pretty much whatever conditions it wants for the grant of same.

You DO have a right to own and use a firearm for the traditionally legal purposes of same, and said right is protected by the Constitution.

There are thousands of regulations of our firearm liberty. Furthermore, the most constant daily threat to our health and lives comes from people driving vehicles, not from armed bad guys. But if you really want to address gun crimes, you should criminalize promiscuity and out of wedlock births because that where the bulk of killers and criminals are being spawned.

One would have to be rational and reasonable first to understand the argument.

You mean the argument you haven't even tried to present, because you know you can't?

Give it a try. Really. Lay it out for all to see.
Present the very best, soundest, most rational, and most reasoned argument you can for the repeal of the 2nd.
I'll then demonstrate to everyone how little you understand, and how irrational, unreasonable, and unsound said argument really is.
G' head. I dare you. Bring it.

So for the sake of argument, let's assume @TOG 6 and @Richard The Last are rational and reasonable.

    We're waiting...
